अमूर्त विकिपीडिया/फलनों की विकि की नामकरण प्रतियोगिता

वर्तमान में विकिलेम्डा के रूप में प्रचलित विकिमीडिया विकि प्रकल्प का नाम चुनने में सहायता करें। यह प्रकल्प एक ऐसी विकि होगी जहाँ समुदाय फलनों के संग्रह पर एकसाथ कार्य कर सकेंगे; नये फलन निर्मित कर सकेंगे, उनके बारे में पढ़ना, चर्चा करना अथवा साझा करने का कार्य कर सकेंगे। इनमें से कुछ फलन भाषा-स्वतंत्र विकिपीडिया लेख निर्मित करने में काम में लिए जायेंगे जो किसी भी भाषा में प्रदर्शित किये जा सकेंगे। इस तरह से यह अमूर्त विकिपीडिया (नीचे स्पष्ट की गयी है) का एक घटक है। लेकिन फलनों को अमूर्त विकिपीडिया के लक्ष्य से दूर कहीं भी काम में लिया जा सकेगा।

नामकरण प्रतियोगिता का लक्ष्य एक ऐसा नया अविस्मरणीय नाम निर्मित करना है जिससे लोगों को नवीन विकिमीडिया विकि का उद्देश्य बहुत आसानी से समझ में आये। निम्नलिखित विस्तरित प्रक्रिया का उद्देश्य विभिन्न तरह की सम्भावनाओं को प्रोत्साहित करना है और उसके पश्चात् कुछ उच्च विकल्पों का चयन करके संख्या को कम किया जायेगा जो इसके अर्थ को ठीक से संचारित करे।

प्रस्तावों को 29 सितम्बर से पहले प्रस्तुत करना है। यहाँ पर दो स्तर का मतदान होगा, जिसमें प्रत्येक में उम्मीदवारों का वैधता परिक्षण होगा। इसका मतदान 29 सितम्बर और 2 नवंबर को आरम्भ होगा। हमरा लक्ष्य 14 दिसम्बर तक प्रकल्प का अन्तिम नाम चयन करने का है।

एक फलन क्या होता है?

एक “फलन” (जिसे फ़ंक्शन भी कहा जाता है) कंप्यूटर प्रोग्राम अनुदेशों का एक अनुक्रम होता है जो उपलब्ध आँकड़ों पर आधारित गणना करता है। फलन ज्ञान का एक रूप है जो प्रश्नों का उत्तर दे सकता है, जैसे दो दिये गये दिनांक के मध्य कितने दिन हैं अथवा दो नगरों के मध्य कितनी दूरी है। अधिक जटिल फलन, अधिक जटिल प्रश्नों को हल कर सकते हैं जैसे त्रिविमिय सरंचना का क्षेरफल ज्ञात करना, किसी विशेष तिथि पर मंगलग्रह और शुक्रग्रह के मध्य की दूरी ज्ञात करना अथवा किन्हीं दो प्रजातियों के एक ही समय पर जीवन का पता लगाना। हम विभिन्न तरह के ज्ञान पड़ताल के लिए पहले से फलनों का प्रयोग करते हैं, जैसे किसी खोज इंजन को जब प्रश्न पूछे जाते हैं। {{convert}} और {{age}} साँचे भी फलनों का उदाहरण हैं जो विभिन्न विकिपीडियाओं पर उपयोग किये जाते हैं, ये लुआ भाषा में लिखे हैं और जिस विकिपीडिया पर काम में लिए जा रहे हैं वो एक जगह से प्रतिलिपि किये गये हैं।

फलनों के और अधिक उदाहरण प्रारंभिक कार्य उदाहरण पर हैं और अन्तरफलक के बहुत ही अपरिष्कृत रेखाचित्र प्रारंभिक मॉकअप पर देखे जा सकते हैं।

लघु रूप में, फलन आपके द्वारा दिये गये आँकड़ों पर गणना करते हैं और आपके सम्बंधित प्रश्न का उत्तर देते हैं।

यह नया विकिमीडिया प्रकल्प फलनों का एक संग्रह (जिसे लाइब्रेरी भी कहा जाता है) रचना करेगा, यह कार्य स्वयंसेवकों द्वारा किया जायेगा जो विभिन्न भाषाओं में आपके प्रश्नों का उत्तर देने में सहायक होगा। फलनों के संग्रह के निर्माण से हम मुक्त ज्ञान को अधिक लोगों तक पहुँचाने और अन्वेषित करने में सक्षम होंगे। इसको सम्भव करने के लिए इस प्रकल्प को नाम की आवश्यकता है। कृपया प्रस्ताव रखने और सर्वश्रेष्ठ चुनने के लिए शामिल हों।

शब्द "अमूर्त विकिपीडिया" लम्बी अवधि के लक्ष्य को सन्दर्भित करता है - कि यह फलनों का संग्रह एक दिन भाषा-स्वतंत्र लेख निर्मित करने में सक्षम हो जायेगा। एक बार इस प्रकल्प के भाग स्थित हैं, इसका अर्थ कोई भी विकि होगा - मुख्यतः लघु और मध्यम विकि - उनकी भाषाओं में उपलब्ध लेखों की संख्या में नाटकीय वृद्धि होगी। इसका अर्थ यह भी है कि लेखक अपने ज्ञान को विभिन्न संस्कृतियों और प्रसंगों से, विस्तृत और वैश्विक श्रोताओं के साथ सझा कर सकते हैं।

फलनों की नवीन विकि लक्ष्यों को सम्भव बनाने के लिए कुटलेखन आधारभूत संरचना (कोडिंग इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर) विकसित करेगा। अमूर्त विकिपीडिया प्रकल्प का भाग होगा जो लगभग एक वर्ष पूर्व आरम्भ हुआ।

अन्य शब्दों में: हम फलनों को विकिडाटा में आँकड़ों और भाषायी-सूचना के साथ नवीन विकि से जोड़ने में समर्थ होंगे जिससे किसी भी समर्थित भाषा में प्राकृतिक भाषा के वाक्य निर्मित किये जा सकें। ये वाक्य बाद में किसी भी विकिपीडिया (अथवा अन्य कहीं) पर उपयोग में लिये जा सकते हैं।

कुल मिलाकर प्रकल्प के बारे में अधिक जानकारी अमूर्त विकिपीडिया पर है। अभी हम दीर्घावधि वाले "अमूर्त विकिपीडिया" प्रकल्प लक्ष्य के लिए नाम प्राप्त करने की तरफ नहीं देख रहे हैं लेकिन उस नवीन विकि के लिए जो फलनों की है।

समय रेखा

• 15 सितम्बर: इस पृष्ठ का प्रकाशन और लोगों के विचार प्राप्त करना। अनुवाद के लिए पूछना। बहुभाषी-स्वयंसेवकों से प्रस्तुति स्तर पर प्रस्ताव मांगना।
• 22 सितम्बर: घोषणा से प्रस्ताव निवेदन का अनुस्मारक और शुरुआती मतदान में भाग लें।
• 29 सितम्बर: व्यापक सामुदायिक मतदान का प्रथम चरण आरम्भ।
• 13 अक्टूबर: प्रथम चरण के मतदान का समापन; प्रथम वैधता पुनरीक्षण आरम्भ।
• 2 नवम्बर: द्वितीय चरण का सामुदायिक मतदान आरम्भ।
• 16 नवम्बर: द्वितीय चरण के मतदान का समापन; द्वितीय वैधता पुनरीक्षण आरम्भ।
• 14 दिसम्बर: नवीन प्रकल्प के नाम की घोषणा। लोगो के लिए अनुरोध आरम्भ।

नाम प्रस्ताव के मानदण्ड

• नाम किसी प्रकार से सन्दर्भ अथवा विकि के लक्ष्य से सम्बंधित होना चाहिए जो फलनों का संग्रह है। एक अच्छा नाम कुछ इस तरह का होना है:
  • इसमें स्थापित प्रवृत्ति शब्दों का उपयोग होना चाहिए जो पहले से विख्यात हैं और "विकि" की तरह स्वीकार्य हो
  • प्रकल्प के मुख्य विवरण को प्रकाशित करने वाला ("विकिडाटा" में "डाटा" के बारे में सोचें) हो जिससे पहली बार के पाठक अथवा स्रोता को प्रकल्प के मुख्य केन्द्र का अनुमान हो जाये
  • बोलने में सरल हो और उच्चारण में आसान (याद रखें, लोगों को इसे बार बार काम में लेना है)
  • यह नाम विकि को केवल अमूर्त विकिपीडिया के लक्ष्य की तरफ सीमित करने वाला नहीं होना चाहिए, बल्कि ऐसी क्षमता को प्रतिबिम्बित करने वाला होना चाहिए जो बहुमार्गी और बहुस्थली विस्तृत विविधता वाला हो सके।
• नाम का अनुवाद अच्छी तरह से होना चाहिए
  • स्वयंसेवकों का एक समूह प्रस्तावों को अपनी स्वयं की भाषा(ओं) में जाँचने का काम करेगा और यदि वहाँ पर कुछ चर्चा होती है तो वो चर्चा की टिप्पणियाँ जोड़ सकेंगे।
• स्वयं अपने आप में डोमेन अथवा उप-डोमेन के रूप में रखने लायक होना चाहिए।
  • विकि को या तो "foo.org" या फिर "foo.wikimedia.org" के रूप में निर्मित किया जायेगा। यह वर्तमान में अनिर्णित है और तकनीकी एवं वैध निर्णयों पर आधारित होगा।
• नाम को किसी तीसरे पक्ष के बौद्धिक संपदा अधिकारों का उल्लंघन नहीं करना चाहिए और यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए कानूनी वकील द्वारा अंतिम समीक्षा के अधीन है कि यह सुनिश्चित नहीं करता है।

नाम निवेदन के नियम

• Number of submissions. During the submission period you may submit as many names as you wish. (Duplicates will be consolidated prior to voting.)
• Agreement implicit upon submission.
  • (a) By submitting, you implicitly acknowledge that you have read and agree to these rules.
  • (b) By submitting names, you agree to enter into a contract to assign all of your rights in your submission to the Wikimedia Foundation, including any and all copyright, trademark, publicity, and any other intellectual property or other proprietary rights.
  • (c) You warrant that you (or the Wikimedia Foundation) are the owner of all copyright, trademark, moral, publicity, and other intellectual and proprietary rights to the proposed name and that to the best of your knowledge it does not violate any rights of any third party.
• Disputes. While we hope that there is no dispute between you and the Wikimedia Foundation, we need to set some rules about how any disputes that may arise will be handled. By participating in the name selection process, you agree that your submission, your assignment of rights in it, and any dispute shall be governed by the laws of the United States of America and will be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction in the City and County of San Francisco, California.

1. Submission period. There is early voting during the submission period, and discussion is encouraged. Names may be modified during this period, and derivatives may be submitted. All names must accord to the criteria rules (see below). Please be particularly friendly and constructive during this brainstorming period.
2. After this, we introduce two tiers of visibility for the voting: The top ~20 proposals, roughly, by number of supports at this point will be visible on the default (current) voting page. There will then also be a second page with all proposals to vote on that is linked from the main voting page, the second tier.
   • During the vote, once every working day or so, we will check if there are any proposals that should be moved to the main voting page or dropped from it. We use some discretion here, but basically if anything has more support than the least supported proposals on the main voting page, it should be on the main voting page.
   • Adding completely new proposals will be possible even after September 29, but only to the full list of proposals, i.e. the second tier.
3. Elimination round. After the submission period, entries are presented in randomized display for at least one week of voting.
   • Each voter may vote for as many as they want.
4. Finalist review. After the top six submissions by vote are determined, legal counsel will make an initial cursory review of the top six names for any legal issues, the ability to be registered as a global trademark, and make a determination as to suitability.
5. Final vote. As many as six names may be entered into the one-week final vote and presented in randomized display for voting. Votes will be counted using the Instant-runoff method. Voters provide a ranking of the proposals.
6. Final legal review. Legal counsel will make an in-depth review of the top name. If, in the discretion of legal counsel, the top choice name is not appropriate, because of legal concerns (trademark, copyright, etc), the name will be withdrawn from consideration (with a public explanation for why) and the second choice name will be reviewed using the same criteria. If the second choice name is unacceptable, legal counsel will continue down the list to the first available and clear name.

Each person may vote from only one account. In the first round of voting you may vote for as many names as you like. In the second round of voting you rank the choices. You can use the gadget (if on a desktop browser), or you can manually vote by ranking all six candidates (listed them by number in descending order of preference) followed by your signature in a single line. If you vote multiple times and change your mind, only your last vote line will be taken into account.

You may vote from any one registered account you own on a Wikimedia wiki (you may only vote from a single account, regardless of how many accounts you own, although you may vote for as many names as you'd like). To qualify, this one account must:

• not be blocked on more than one project; and
• not be a bot; and
• have made at least 25 edits as of 1 September, 2020 on any public Wikimedia production wiki (like Wikipedia, Commons, Wikisource, etc).

Current and former members of the Board of Trustees and the Advisory Board of the Wikimedia Foundation are qualified to vote.

Second round vote tallying: Up to six candidates will enter the second voting round. At the end of the voting period, using a modification of the instant-runoff system, the first (or only) choice of each voter will be counted and used to order the submissions by preference. Each first (or only) choice counts as one vote for the chosen submission. If, at this point, there is a simple majority, this submission will enter the final legal review. If there is no simple majority, the submission with the fewest votes will be eliminated, and all votes who expressed a first choice for this submission will be recounted for their second choice. This will be repeated until a submission has a simple majority of all remaining votes. The resulting submission will then undergo final legal review. In case the submission fails the legal review, we simply eliminate that submission first and start the counting process anew, until a submission passes final legal review. No third round of voting is planned.
