@DerHexer: the Special:CentralNotice link led me into a notice saying "You are not authorized to preview banners, or your edit token has expired. Please try logging in again or reloading the page," and the preview link is not showing anything to me. Have tried logging in a few times and changed the browser, even from my volunteer account -- curious what's the problem here. RamzyM (WMF) (talk) 11:18, 22 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @DerHexer, we are experiencing some translations issues on the banner for some languages. For example, it always shows up in en for Ja (Japanese). I have just noticed the same for fr (French) as well. See screenshot here.

Can you please have a look. I remembered we faced the same issue for the BoT election banner

@MPossoupe (WMF): Each translation has to be approved by a translation administrator. 'fr' was approved by me now, 'ja' has already been approved, afaics. When the translation is set to proofreading (as it has been for 'fr'), the default language (which always is 'en') will be shown. Please check if the banners are shown correctly now. You can follow the state of translations here.
In case you are wondering why sometimes submitted translations will be automatically approved when sometimes (like in this campaign) it's not the case, I don't have easy answer for you: The translation extension is in its functionality, design, logical ripping of texts parts, etc. a nightmare of a tool but the best we have. It was not even designed to be used for banner campaigns so that we must be call ourselves happy that we can use it there at least and don't have to hard-code every translation unit. And sadly, there is no WMF support for CentralNotice (anymore) despite a lot of outreach from our sides about this extremely powerful tool which is getting used more and more by community and(!) WMF without much governance, technical support, or whatsoever, so that we volunteers have to live with the current problems. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 17:05, 17 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@DerHexer, can see the banner, but still in EN. I have a look to the translation list and for some reasons it has been set to in progress. I have completed again and set it to Ready. Can you please publish it? By the way, I can see that others languages has the same issue.
