What is the purpose of the campaign? How will you measure the success of the campaign?

Description - To attract greater participation at regional Wikipedia Day events in the US. These are usually the largest non-editathon meetups of the calendar year, often take the form of a one-day miniconference, are suitable for newbies looking to become more engaged, and have been held annually in New York City since 2010, in Los Angeles since 2017, and sometimes elsewhere. This request is unusual because we are asking for subnational banners for local events in particular US states.

Metrics - Will be measured by participation at the meetups.

Oppose. CentralNotices are being heavily overused. Advertising a meetup is not an appropriate use of a CentralNotice. Use a watchlist notice, or post on the village pump. --Yair rand (talk) 23:31, 10 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure we can geotarget to specific US States. The geotargetting feature of this extension only contains the United States as a whole.. @Seddon (WMF) for advice (I am really sorry for three pings in a row already, but I don't know who else to ask). —MarcoAurelio (talk) 23:27, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@MarcoAurelio: This is the test banner Seddon was working on that has some of this functionality: Special:CentralNoticeBanners/edit/Seddon_cookie_fetch. In this case, it simply displays which state you are in. Ideally, we'd like the live banners to display to certain states and not others with an appropriate local link, i.e probably Alaska will have no banner at all, but all of the states in New England will get the same one. Perhaps you can help get us to the next level in implementing this?--Pharos (talk) 05:38, 23 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
