Extracurricular Wikimedia organizations
Extracurricular Wikimedia organizations are organizations in educational institutions that dedicate themselves to the progress of the Wikimedia movement and the open knowledge ecosystem. They are often non-affiliated organized groups, or backed by an affiliate or any other non-affiliate organized group. These groups are by the students and for the students.
These extracurricular groups work on Wikimedia outreach among current students at a particular educational institution, and sometimes are open to including alumni in their network as well. Their operations are quite similar to what affiliates do, and these groups practice Wikimedia and open knowledge advocacy beyond credited course works.
