Meta:Requests for translation adminship/Hedgehog the Great

The following discussion is preserved as an archive of a closed Meta-Wiki request. Please do not modify it.

Could you grand me, please, translation administrator rights? To be able to edit wiki projects, and do cross-translations.

I have experience of translating of english articles into ukrainian and vice versa. My recent contribution to the Meta-wiki pages can be find below:

Not done No valid reason for needing the tools was given and knowledge and understanding about how to prepare pages for translation not demonstrated. --MF-W 22:05, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

my valid reason: "To be able to edit wiki projects, and do cross-translations"
your valid reason: "knowledge and understanding about how to prepare (review and mark) pages for translation",
i.e. "To be able to read, verify, and mark weirdly or poorly translated text in pale red,[5] and canсeling bad translanions, helping other users with translations", USING! translation tool -- which is just an addon.

bad rule: No open proxies. This together with some aministrators pushes editors to disclose their personal information. (That's my private issue to disclose my private information or not.)
good rule: "We believe that you should not have to provide nonpublic Personal Information to participate in the free knowledge movement. You do not have to provide things like your real name, address, or date of birth to sign up for a standard account or contribute content to the Wikimedia Sites." [Privacy_policy#Introduction]
Definition of ""Personal information":
Information you provide us or information we collect that could be used to personally identify you. To be clear, while we do not necessarily collect all of the following types of information, we consider at least the following to be "personal information" if it is otherwise nonpublic and can be used to identify you:
(a) your real name, address, phone number, email address, password, identification number on government-issued ID, IP address, user-agent information, payment account number;
(b) when associated with one of the items in subsection (a), any sensitive data such as date of birth, gender, sexual orientation, racial or ethnic origins, marital or familial status, medical conditions or disabilities, political affiliation, and religion."

The rule you've jast broken: Snowball :
  • Don't close discussions early in favour; we don't like to do snowball closures on Meta-Wiki.
  • An important comment giving deeper insights can often change the whole course of a discussion.
