Personal info: I am a Steward since 2006 and I'm willing to continue this service for another year. I plan to be slightly more active at least in dealing with RfP and in fighting cross wiki issues. I follow the mailing list and monitor meta.wiki logs and RfP page. I also can be reached on meta user talk page, that is set to E-mail me when changed. [Adde]: on last December I sent an application to serve the Ombudsman Commission and it has been accepted for next term, so there will be an interesting and entirely new set of problems, luckily well supported by other expert members of the commission. To enable better communication, I have restored my IRC client, also there my nick is "m7" (wikipedia/m7).

Keep – I've encountered M7 a few times while I was doing antivandalism work on the Simple English Wikipedia. Neutral I don't think that the roles of steward and ombudsman are incompatible. However, it may be wise to drop the steward bit during your term to entirely focus on the ombudsman work. But it remains your choice ;) -- Quentinv57 ^(talk) 23:26, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- Thank you Quentinv57 for your words of encouragement in this new work. Actually, when I submitted my application, I wrote Maggie that I was aware that, in the past, Stewards were requested to abstain and that my right would have removed and eventually restored at the end of the term. When selected, I have been told that the WMF requires to abstain in any case where the role as a steward may constitute a conflict of interest. Since my main activity is dealing with users' permission grant and removal, and I give a hand with countervandalism, I can definitely avoid CU and OS activities. Stewards, noted Maggie, are many more than OC commissioners but have various different requests, and sometimes it's useful to have somebody around. In any case, I am committed in making clear notes in order to allow other people to fully understand any use of tools; the whole wiki community counts on your and other fellow Stewards careful supervision of the logs.   Thank you for your answer. I'm more concerned about the workload that comes with the ombudsman status than about the possible conflicts of interest. To me, if you really take on the ombudsman responsability and keep the steward bit too, you will have a lot of work for 2014. Anyway, thanks for volunteering on this.
