Question on translation
editHi @Vogone:!
Two days ago, the Connected Open Heritage project ended, and we are working hard to spread the words about the data and images that have been uploaded to Wikimedia projects as much as possible.
As part of that, we have written a template for a press release that we will send to different Wikimedia chapters in countries were there have been data added on cultural heritages. I saw that you state that you like to translate between English and German on your User Page. If you have the time and feel like it, it would be a tremendous help for us if you'd like to translate the template into German (and any other language you speak). You find the template to translate here!

user:Holder abuse as global sysop
editHi Vogone. This global admin has been deleting photographs relevant to Bikol Wikipedia project. I am a former admin and had finally blocked him. He asked me to unblock his account even asking for an apology and promised not to delete more files. I blocked him for he was guilty of his action but he unblocked himself twice then he immediately find a way to remove my admin rights via another global admin who like himself does not speak the local language. This kind of admims are the reason why it is very hard to keep new contributors and it also pisses old contributors. --Filipinayzd (talk) 15:22, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
- Hi everyone
- I've deleted files that have been uploaded without any free license. All these files were listed in category for deletion bcl:Kategorya:Tolos-tolos_na_mga_pagparà. Some of these pictures are surely copyright violations, see e. g. this picture. I've informed the uploader over a year ago on this probliem. Nothing happened. So when I was deleting these files in Category:Request for deletion Filipinayzd blocked me infinitely without asking me for stopping deletions. The only thing I've done on bcl:wp since then is unblocking me and explaining my edits. --Holder (talk) 15:37, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
- You wanted to have a discussion after your account was blocked. You could not wait for 2 hours being blocked so you unblocked yourself. I could imagine how you felt when you get paralyzed temporarily. You must have felt the same feeling of other users you blocked or users whose contribution were mass deleted by you. Of course, it is easier to ignore the effort put into by contributors than educating them. --Filipinayzd (talk) 17:25, 20 January 2018 (UTC)
- Hi @Filipinayzd:, I'm sorry how this situation escalated. While Holder is right that there is a licensing policy which has to be followed on Wikimedia wikis, I understand your frustration with regards to Holder's actions, especially the usage of global sysop tools to overrule a local admin's decision, which is certainly out of scope ("for the purposes of antivandalism and routine maintenance […] no extra editorial control over content or the local community"). Yet, while this certainly contributed to the escalation, I do not believe that Holder intended to do any harm to you or your community. I would suggest trying to label the files that are important to your community appropriately so that they can eventually be transferred to Wikimedia Commons where applicable (you don't have to do the transfer by yourself, but adding appropriate licence tags is a prerequisite, unfortunately). With regards to your admin rights, if the issue mentioned in the logs (expired temporary adminship) is true you may simply ask your community to prolong it and if nobody objects you will be granted these admin rights again upon a request at SRP. - @195.143.129.132: Hi. The pages have been deleted because they have been found to be copies of English language Wikipedia articles and as well did not appear to be human translations. Copies have to be attributed properly and translations should be human translations. If you are interested in translating content from other Wikipedias, then creating an account and using so:Special:ContentTranslation might be a good idea. --Vogone (talk) 15:15, 11 October 2018 (UTC)

Possible POV (cross-wiki)
editHello, could you check this case? Or at least transfer it to another user.
In summary, the same account has been making a series of modifications in several Wikipedia (pt, fr, es, en, it, ar, tr, among others). However, I have already noticed several issues that the account alleges "false information", but it has no sources to prove it, as well as the new information it posts.
In short, I believe it is a case of defense of a Point of View (POV), many of the editions on Wikipedia pt, it, and es are poorly worded, and even if reverted to pt.wiki, the account insists on resetting the content. Edmond Dantès d'un message? 21:28, 8 September 2019 (UTC)

editHi. I happened to visit Main Page just now and noticed the headings we hid so many years ago (April 2012!) are now back. Could that edit be undone please? The page was designed so that those elements weren't needed. --MZMcBride (talk) 07:44, 4 March 2020 (UTC)
- Unfortunately my memory doesn't reach back 2 years with sufficient detail, but I am pretty sure there was a reason for this change. At that time we were migrating the main page to the translate extension and discovered multiple issues (the main page was largely broken, especially if your interface language was not set to 'en') that had not been fixed for years, indeed. If you want I can try to re-construct my motivation for this particular edit, but I doubt it's worth the effort. --Vogone (talk) 19:08, 4 March 2020 (UTC)

The 2021 Community Wishlist Survey is now open! This survey is the process where communities decide what the Community Tech team should work on over the next year. We encourage everyone to submit proposals until the deadline on 30 November, or comment on other proposals to help make them better. The communities will vote on the proposals between 8 December and 21 December.
The Community Tech team is focused on tools for experienced Wikimedia editors. You can write proposals in any language, and we will translate them for you. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing your proposals!

What we work on is decided based on results of the Community Wishlist Survey. Once a year, you can submit wishes. After two weeks, you can vote on the ones that you're most interested in.
