edit

As we wrap up the WIKIMOVE podcast, we want to take a moment to thank all our listeners for helping make it such a meaningful experience. Over nearly two years and two exciting seasons, we had the privilege of inviting inspiring voices from across the Wikimedia Movement and to learn about exciting and innovative initiatives. You can check out our website to listen to the episodes you may have missed.

At this time, we have decided not to continue with new WIKIMOVE episodes and instead to explore other ways to engage with our Movement Strategy. As a final wrap-up, we are pleased to share an evaluation of WIKIMOVE’s reach and reception with you. Feel free to reach out and stay in touch. Wrong namespace?

edit

Hi Alan Ang, it looks like you've created the following pages in the wrong namespace or did you do that on purpose?

--Johannnes89 (talk) 16:38, 15 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi Johannnes89, thank you for pointing that out. It was an oversight on my part. I've just rectified it. :) Alan Ang (WMDE) (talk) 08:41, 16 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Wikidata Days

edit

That was unexpected. While I was defining the architecture for m:WikiData Days here on meta as well after doing so on Wikidata, I decided to check all occurrences of the string "Wikidata Days" on Meta via a also via google I discovered that you referred to the initiative in Latvia as "Wikidata Days."

Is that an official designation, or is it only mentioned on your user page? because it could be in fact described as such. If so, could you please add it here as well as to d:Wikidata:Wikidata Days. User:Epìdosis is more familiar with my reasoning for this architecture, so feel free to ask him directly tomorrow.

It's also time to distinguish the concept's item from the category's item, as we have reached critical mass. Perhaps you could standardize it as an alias using the name of this week’s event's Commons category? You might also consider adding the category to d:Wikidata:WikiProject Latvia/NLL 2024. I'm fairly certain that if you both agree, the organizers will likely trust your judgment. Regards. Alexmar983 (talk) 19:32, 29 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Addendum: In my opinion, the key factor is whether the event is open to the public and users in some capacity, at least for the most part. The "Wikidata Days" event, as I see it, should be freely accessible to all relevant stakeholders. Otherwise, it risks being classified as just a dedicated training or workshop. I’ll incorporate this feedback to further refine the concept by adding maybe a few carefully chosen adjectives to the definition--Alexmar983 (talk) 19:45, 29 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Alexmar983: Hi! The event is not open to the public but only accessible to the librarians who subscribed; IMHO it can be defined as a dedicated training/workshop and probably not as Wikidata Days, since as of now the label Wikidata Days (as far as I can see from commons:Category:Wikidata Days) has effectively been used only for events open to the public. Good evening, Epìdosis 20:19, 29 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Epìdosis: so you agree with my previous comment. I have therefore refined the description accordingly.--Alexmar983 (talk) 20:28, 29 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
