Thanks, I had named the proposal that way because I was afraid of it breaking on the main Closing Projects Proposal page, and I didn't know how to modify the template for it. But now it's clearer what I had originally intended to do. TeleComNasSprVen (talk) 23:38, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

FYI
editThere is a content dispute here (and on my talk). PiRSquared17 (talk) 22:36, 21 January 2014 (UTC)
- There is no content dispute. There was a massive copy-edit to a policy page, asserted to be improving the language, complicated enough that reviewing it wasn't quick, and such an edit should be approved by the community, according to the page itself. I acted to ensure that review would take place. It has, quickly and easily. Unless someone objects, it's done. The user who made the changes was upset at my acting to require a review, that's all. --Abd (talk)
- Could you comment further on my proposed change to clarify the lede of the policy page? English's syntactic ambiguity allowed it to be interpreted two different ways, and I unfortunately picked the wrong interpretation. That is, "maximum inactivity time without community review of two years" means no local community review for two years during the maximum inactivity time, according to some native English interpretations. editHi, there was a wrong year in the Finnish translation at Special:CentralNoticeBanners/edit/stew2014vote. I translated it from 2013 to 2014, but is it automatically updated or do you need to manually update the banner? --Stryn (talk) 18:27, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
- To be honest I have no idea how CN works. The special page you link to tells me Finnish belongs to the "accepted translations", so probably it should be ok. I bet User:PiRSquared17 knows more. --MF-W 21:45, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
- Snowolf already fixed it (this was one of his anyway, I only did the ones before "c" and the non-Latin ones). FYI: only admins can set the translation status for CNBanners to "Published", and doing so automatically modifies the MediaWiki message for the banner. Why do you stay CU on LoginWiki?
editAll other stewards apart from you and [three others] only set themselves as checkuser when actually checking something. Constantly keeping glasses that can see people naked on makes people feel uncomfortable, you know. If only there was a way to see the checkuser log, but no. Why is the checkuser-log privilege limited for CU only, anyway? It doesn't show anything private, unless you check a specific IP, but those are revealed anyway if you choose to block, and can't be connected to accounts any more than when blocking someone and locking their accounts. InnateNatureOfReality (talk) 16:24, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
- I think you have some misconceptions about CU. CU does not reveal any naked pictures of people, just their IPs. Also just because some people have the CU rights all the time, while others can give them to themselves all the time, does not mean that they constantly CU someone. It's the same with local CUs, do you also feel like they are watching you naked? — It was not my decision to not make the checkuser log public, but it does contain private information in the following sense: If someone checks a user, and immediately after that an IP or IP range, it's clear that the IP belongs to the user. And that would then even be visible when the IP would not be blocked, because e.g. it turned out in the CU investigation that the checked account had no reprehensible things. For transparency btw, it was my idea to create the Stewards/CheckUser statistics for loginwiki. --MF-W 20:33, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
Also, I get that you guys discuss blocks/locks on IRC and tell Warburg/Billinghurst/etc to secretly CU on loginwiki. I do not like that at all. It is horrible. InnateNatureOfReality (talk) 16:26, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
- Please go elsewhere if you want to spread ridiculous conspiracy theories. Who are "you guys" supposed to be, and why do you talk to them on my talk page? And how is it more secret if I or Billinghurst checkuser someone on loginwiki than if someone else makes himself a CU on loginwiki with the reason "abuse", CUs, and then removes the right again? --MF-W 20:33, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of Serbo-Croat Wikipedia
editHello. As proponent of initiative to close SH Wikipedia I would like to say some things regarding the fact that proposal is rejected. I refuse to understand why forbid and protect discussion after the first day its started. You can't say the first day that something is obviously. Users who discussed there are well organized users who came from sh.wiki, so their reaction can't represent something obviously for the whole Meta community. Proposal for the deletion besides closing project is something that rules allows and pointing at that when you are about to start the proposal, not my exaggeration. There isn't any of day-to-day local problem you mentioned in explanation, you know that problem with that language and project is something else, not that simple as your response. This is only my comment, it should not be treated as some kind of formal appeal to decision. I don't want any new discussion under this circumstances. --Жељко Тодоровић (talk) 16:05, 27 February 2014 (UTC) с. р.
- I'm sorry that you feel this way, but still I don't think that a longer time for the discussion would have led to any result in favour of deletion; as it "came out of nowhere". Therefore I closed it per the following sentence from the policy: However, in the event that a LangCom member considers a discussion harmful, with no reasonable possibility of a decision to close the wiki, the member may close the discussion immediately. --MF-W 22:57, 2 March 2014 (UTC)

Request for feedback on my GSoC'14 proposal
editHi MF-Warburg,
I am planning to work on the project titled "Tools for mass migration of legacy translated wiki content" this summer under Google Summer of Code. I have drafted a proposal for the same over the past few weeks. This project is going to help the translation adminstrators like you in a great way, as it would completely automate the tedious manual task of preparing a page for translation and then importing the translations into the Translate extension. You can check the proposal page for detailed information on how I plan to accomplish this.
As you would be an end user of this tool, it would be great if you could go through the proposal and provide feedback/suggestions. Your feedback would definitely help me improve the proposal as well help in creating an even better tool. You can do the same on the discussion page of the proposal or reply here, whichever is convenient for you. I look forward to hearing from you! Thank you!
P.S: I need to submit the proposal to Google by March 19, 2014.

- Well, I removed the marker for section 9 and then, when trying to mark the page for translation again, the software wanted to create a new section 34 of the out of it. That's why I put the original number back into it then. Now that I think about it, I should probably have wrapped the intended section 8+9 in separate translate tags? But it was late at night, so yeah, I slept well, thanks ;) --MF-W 18:27, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
An important message about renaming users
editDear MF-Warburg,
I am cross-posting this message to many places to make sure everyone who is a Wikimedia Foundation project bureaucrat receives a copy. If you are a bureaucrat on more than one wiki, you will receive this message on each wiki where you are a bureaucrat.
As you may have seen, work to perform the Wikimedia cluster-wide single-user login finalisation (SUL finalisation) is taking place. This may potentially effect your work as a local bureaucrat, so please read this message carefully.
Why is this happening? As currently stated at the global rename policy, a global account is a name linked to a single user across all Wikimedia wikis, with local accounts unified into a global collection. Previously, the only way to rename a unified user was to individually rename every local account. This was an extremely difficult and time-consuming task, both for stewards and for the users who had to initiate discussions with local bureaucrats (who perform local renames to date) on every wiki with available bureaucrats. The process took a very long time, since it's difficult to coordinate crosswiki renames among the projects and bureaucrats involved in individual projects.
The SUL finalisation will be taking place in stages, and one of the first stages will be to turn off Special:RenameUser locally. This needs to be done as soon as possible, on advice and input from Stewards and engineers for the project, so that no more accounts that are unified globally are broken by a local rename to usurp the global account name. Once this is done, the process of global name unification can begin. The date that has been chosen to turn off local renaming and shift over to entirely global renaming is 15 September 2014, or three weeks time from now. In place of local renames is a new tool, hosted on Meta, that allows for global renames on all wikis where the name is not registered will be deployed.
Your help is greatly needed during this process and going forward in the future if, as a bureaucrat, renaming users is something that you do or have an interest in participating in. The Wikimedia Stewards have set up, and are in charge of, a new community usergroup on Meta in order to share knowledge and work together on renaming accounts globally, called Global renamers. Stewards are in the process of creating documentation to help global renamers to get used to and learn more about global accounts and tools and Meta in general as well as the application format. As transparency is a valuable thing in our movement, the Stewards would like to have at least a brief public application period. If you are an experienced renamer as a local bureaucrat, the process of becoming a part of this group could take as little as 24 hours to complete. You, as a bureaucrat, should be able to apply for the global renamer right on Meta by the requests for global permissions page on 1 September, a week from now.
In the meantime please update your local page where users request renames to reflect this move to global renaming, and if there is a rename request and the user has edited more than one wiki with the name, please send them to the request page for a global rename.
Stewards greatly appreciate the trust local communities have in you and want to make this transition as easy as possible so that the two groups can start working together to ensure everyone has a unique login identity across Wikimedia projects. Completing this project will allow for long-desired universal tools like a global watchlist, global notifications and many, many more features to make work easier.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns about the SUL finalisation, read over the Help:Unified login page on Meta and leave a note on the talk page there, or on the talk page for global renamers. You can also contact me on my talk page on meta if you would like. I'm working as a bridge between Wikimedia Foundation Engineering and Product Development, Wikimedia Stewards, and you to assure that SUL finalisation goes as smoothly as possible; this is a community-driven process and I encourage you to work with the Stewards for our communities.
Thank you for your time. -- Keegan (WMF) talk 18:24, 25 August 2014 (UTC)

Hello [unblock on enwiki]
editSorry for contacting you here. I need to contact someone to unblock me from en.wiki, but nobody's responding. They locked me also from editing talk page. I was blocked for SP, but recently I locked all my SPs (see my contribs here). Could someone from meta unblock me from there? Or contact someone there to unblock me? Thanksǃ --Munjanes (talk) 23:12, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
- (Talk page stalker) Hi there. You can fill out this form to appeal for an unblock. Other than that, stewards can not unblock you due to the Stewards policy. Eurodyne (talk) 23:25, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

votes extensions
editI think that the least of a good practice is to treat any request for extending a vote as valid. BTW, I've just noticed that I closed a request in which you yourself suggested an extension :) My apologies, I have not checked the dates of your comment (I assumed you would have extended the "not ending before..." tagline as well). This was not intentional and I blame myself for missing it. Pundit (talk) 12:58, 14 September 2014 (UTC)
- Well, Global_renamers#Special_nomination_provisions_until_end_of_January_2015 says "If objections are raised, a short discussion should ensue, at which point after 48 hours an uninvolved steward will close it and analyse whether consensus believes the concerns are valid or not". If you had objections and I didn't understand that, I'm sorry.
- I'm unable to find this request you speak of. So be glad, I won't complain about things I do not see ;-) However, if I correctly remember the comments I made where I proposed 2 weeks instead of the speedy process, they were about a lack of bureaucrat experience, thereby saying that the requester might not meet the requirements to make a "speedy request" at all. That is an unfortunate consequence of the ambiguous wording that emerged into the policy ("bureaucrats who are experienced with the rename rights"). If that was such a comment on the request, I even more don't mind it if you disagreed with or overlooked my suggestion about the request process that should be used. --MF-W 18:33, 14 September 2014 (UTC)
- It was this one :) In general, on several occasions stewards have requested extending the discussion (which may make sense when there is low turn-out too: in the beginning there is a run for buttons and a higher risk of overlooking something). But all in all, I agree that smooth proceeding is of value. Cheers! Pundit (talk) 05:39, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

- Name should be Sung Jae-ki.
- Special:CentralAuth/Luikifer and Special:CentralAuth/Jrquas seems to be same guy as Special:CentralAuth/Dizamburg, same history of editing ko:육우당 (활동가), three accounts' edit doesn't duplicates, Jrquas creaing/editing LGBT related person's article (en:Yun Hyon-seok (Dizamburg edited this too), en:Kwak Yi-kyong - it's his behavior)... Well, it may be too late for checkuser them, but we could lock them. — revi☏ 12:24, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks, I renamed the page.
- Yes, it could be that these accounts are also from that person. It seems like Luikifer is now inactive, but what worries me more is Jrquas - he has made 2000 edits on kowiki. Is he a user "in good standing" there? It wouldn't be too great if he is behind all these accounts. --MF-W 23:44, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
- He looks like he is a sockmaster - Glancing at his recent 300 edits at kowiki says he mostly edited ko:육우당 (활동가) or LGBT related articles. I wasn't aware of this users until I saw that page - So he/she was a good standing user, but I doubt now. — revi☏ 23:52, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
- Maybe this should be brought to the attention of kowiki Checkusers? --MF-W 13:40, 7 October 2014 (UTC)
- I'll open RFCU, but I doubt it is Stale or not... — revi☏ 14:02, 7 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi MF-W, sorry for not opening RfCU - I was too busy and I thought that is stale as that account hasn't edited for months. Anyway, Special:CentralAuth/Disscripter is adding "Sung Jae-ki" related article on kowiki. — revi☏ 11:45, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
- And Special:CentralAuth/Nopektro looks like a real sockmaster. (Discussed this matter off-wiki with fellow admins) — Revimsg 17:29, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
- Also Special:CentralAuth/Disscripter2. — revimsg 07:12, 17 October 2014 (UTC)

Proposals for closing projects/Closure of Serbo-Croatian Wikipedia
editGreetings. I am not sure if there is a separate page for leaving messages to LangCom as a body, and I see you are online at the moment. Could you please have a look here and see whether, as is my humble opinion, the proposal meets the criteria for a LangCom member to reject it immediately. I have stated the reasons for my opinion there, but I can repeat them here too in a nutshell. Namely, the proposal is, in my opinion, harmful, based on misconceptions, and with no reasonable possibility of a decision to close sh.wiki. Further, the same proposal was made earlier this year and the policy envisages that "a proposal that is exactly the same, may not be made the same year". Thanks in advance for your time, --Igor Windsor (talk) 22:26, 6 October 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Igor, I had already thought the same. I now rejected this request. --MF-W 00:13, 7 October 2014 (UTC)

editHello Mr MF-Warburg!
Porting mai.wp
editActivity I was directed to you from User:Alan over at mai.wp. Someone started creating some test content over there which needed to be deleted before the actual encyclopedia was ported from Incubator. Do you know when this will happen? Also, do you know when mai
will be added to the interwiki map? Thanks. If you respond here, please use {{Ping}} so I get a notification. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 19:09, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
Global AbuseFilter
-- Juetho (talk) 11:01, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
Kimberley-nia Bot
editHello. I see that Kimberley-nia Bot (talk · contribs) is not editing since september 2014, despite having issued some !delete commands on IRC. Is the service still active? Thank you. Best regards. — M 11:41, 05 December 2014 (UTC) 11:41, 5 December 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry for the delay. The process of the bot had been running for too long, and so it exceeded the memory limit I assigned to it, and it didn't function anymore. I simply restarted the bot now (which also every op on #cvn-sw can do by saying "!quit"). --MF-W 23:51, 14 December 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for the answer and for the action. Just a question, will !quit make the bot re-enter the channel? Best regards. -- M\A 09:44, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, it will. A cron job checks whether the bot is running and restarts it if not. --MF-W 15:29, 15 December 2014 (UTC)
