IRC cloak request

edit

Hello. You recently applied for a Wikimedia IRC cloak, but it looks like you forgot to register your nickname first. Could you please log on to IRC and do:

/msg NickServ REGISTER <password> <email>

where <password> is a password of your choice and <email> is your e-mail address? After you do that, please follow the instructions that are e-mailed to you to confirm your e-mail address. When you're done with that, I just need you to confirm your cloak request:

/msg MemoServ send wmfgc IRC cloak request

After you finish all of that, I'd be happy to get you a cloak. --FiliP ██ 23:16, 9 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Change in translations

edit

Hi, and thank you for your activity with fundraiser translations so far!! I have one small request to make: We had to change three of the appeals; the change is the same in all of them, and the replacement text is quite short, so I don't want to e-mail people just to fix that, and that's why I'm asking you instead. It would be great if you could do the following fixes in Spanish:

Since these are small changes you don't have to go through the cycle of having it proofread and everything, unless you are unsure about the translation. Thanks in advance. :-) Jon Harald Søby (WMF) 05:03, 27 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

A barnstar for you!

edit

This barnstar is given to you for your help with the 2011 fundraiser translation.

Hi! I just want to thank you and give you this barnstar for your help with the translation of the 2011 fundraiser! The fundraiser was the best we ever had, both in terms of the amount we collected and in terms of number of translations. We couldn't have done either one without the help we got from you and other translators. If you are interested, we made a report, which has some statistics about the translations.

And: I have one more request, and that is that you take this survey. You may have got an e-mail about it, and if you did, please ignore this. But if you didn't it would be great if you would take this survey too, so we can learn to improve the translation experience.

Again, thanks for your help with translations – you're awesome! Jon Harald Søby (WMF) 13:28, 24 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Fundraising translation feedback

edit

Hey Fitoschido,

I wanted to ask for your help. As you may be aware we have been running banners on many language wikis. We have a lot of new content this year and I really want to conduct a thorough review of our translations. This is a combination of feedback from the community, readers, donors as well as those with professional translator experience. This will help us ensure the highest quality of translations used in our messaging.

To help us out with this I wonder if you would be willing to give us feedback for Spanish using This Link

Simply follow the simple instructions on that page and if you have any questions feel free to contact me on my talk page.

Many Thanks

Please consider not translating Tech News in protest

edit

Hi Fitoschido, I have just noticed that you've been working on the translation of Tech News today.

I wanted to ask you to consider refraining from translating those pages as a means of protest against the recent actions of the Wikimedia Foundation. On Sunday, they have implemented a change that gives them a unilateral and unlimited power to protect certain pages on Wikimedia wikis in a manner that makes it impossible for all volunteers — including locally elected administrators — from editing them.

The change was secretly forced through without any community consultation, and the Foundation have used this new feature to actively fight the volunteer community of the German Wikipedia.

Your volunteer translations directly help the work of the Foundation. Your work helps them save time and effort that they would otherwise have to invest in recruiting, training and managing new employees, and saves them money they would otherwise have to spend on professional translations.

The recent actions of the Wikimedia Foundation make it very clear that they no longer respect the wishes of the volunteer community, and that they no longer consider us an equal partner. The least we can do to voice our dismay at those actions, and to support our colleagues on the German Wikipedia, is to stop investing our precious time as volunteers on directly helping the Wikimedia Foundation.

Please take a minute to consider withdrawing your help for the Foundation in protest against their unbecoming treatment of the volunteer community of the German Wikipedia.

Thank you for your time and your consideration! odder (talk) 20:51, 11 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Address the gender gap/FAQ

edit

Hi, thanks for your help with translating this and other pages, it is much appreciated. Unfortunately the page was marked for translation prematurely since it is still being worked on, and since it is easier to work on it without all of the translation tags, I removed it from translation. This does not mean that your translations are lost – they are still be visible in Address the gender gap/FAQ/es, and when the page is ready for translation again I will add them to the page once again. Just letting you know in case you're wondering what's happening with the page. :-) Jon Harald Søby (talk) 21:48, 16 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi! This is an invitation to join translators working on the August's issue of the VisualEditor multilingual newsletter, which will be widely delivered at the end of this workweek. Among other things, this month it features the names of the top contributors for the recent VisualEditor 2nd Translathon. Thanks a lot for your support, as usual! Elitre (WMF), 16:49, 10 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

PS: Here are some instructions. Please go to the translation page: your language should be available from the drop-down menu on the right. Once you've selected it, you'll see the document in English side by side with any translation work already done in your language. You can add new translations or modify existing ones.
PPS: We are maintaining a list of editors who have worked on VE-related content (such as newsletters). We only use it to notify them of translation opportunities, to make sure they don't miss Translathons, etc. If you would like messages like this one to be delivered on your talk page at a different WMF project, need any help with translations related to VisualEditor or would like to remove your name from that list, please contact me directly.

Translation request for New Readers Inspire Campaign-- and thanks!

edit

Hi there! I'm contacting you because you've volunteered your time in the past to help translate Inspire Campaigns, or you've expressed an interest about helping to translate. We have a new campaign starting soon about new readers, as we try to encourage contributors to develop ideas on how to inform and invite people to use Wikipedia, especially in places where folks are not aware of it. There are two pages that will need translation:

There will be one additional page for translation that includes the questions we will be asking idea creators when they submit ideas for the campaign. I will notify you when that prose is ready.

Finally, thank you for your support; it's very important to me that these campaigns are accessible to folks across non-English Wikimedia projects, and I wouldn't be able to do that without your time and effort. In appreciation, I'd like to send you a postcard from Chicago where I reside. If you'd like to receive a postcard from me, please e-mail me with an address I contact you at to my work e-mail, cschilling wikimedia.org. I realize this is private information, so if you would prefer not to receive a postcard, that is understandable. Your work to make our projects accessible to everyone is no less appreciated. Please let me know if you have any questions about the prose regarding translation. Thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) 20:33, 8 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

You are invited to join this community space for IdeaLab, especially if you would ever consider needing to find contributors with certain skills (like design or project management) or would like to offer your skills to others in our movement. Inspire Campaign on Measuring Community Health

edit

Do you have an idea about how to measure the health of your community? Do you want to review ideas that others have submitted? Through August 10th, we are inviting ideas on how to capture the well-being of Wikimedia communities, in terms of matters like conflict resolution, effective content creation, and being able to contribute in a collaborative environment. Ideas can be focused on either quantitative techniques, such as gathering raw data, or qualitative techniques, like surveying contributors. If you are submitting an idea, guidance is available for how to move your idea into implementation, such as through a grant or starting a Phabricator task to engage with developers.

If you're interested, consider joining the Inspire Campaign. I JethroBT (WMF) 17:13, 13 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Traducción de Affiliate-selected Board seats/2019

edit

--Tximitx (talk) 10:10, 19 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

New lombard wiktionary and Lombard language manual

edit

Hello Born2bgratis. A new wiktionary in Lombard language is starting. The Lombard language is a language with intermediate characteristics between Catalan and Italian. If you want to contribute you are welcome too. You can do it in any way, even just by adding the translations of the existing words in your language (for now they have been translated just in Italian). For any information you can write me. Moreover to allow the study of the Lombard language, a wikibook in Italian is being written. Hope someone can translate it into other languages.--Gat lombart (talk) 08:25, 1 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
