Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy Month 2023: Invitation

Dear Wikipedian!
After two successful campaigns, Wikimedia Ukraine, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Ukrainian Institute, decided to launch "Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy Month" in the year 2023, which will last from 1st until 31st March. The campaign is dedicated to famous Ukrainian artists of cinema, music, literature, architecture, design, and cultural phenomena of Ukraine that are now part of world heritage.
I would like to invite you to participate once again in this writing challenge! We have revised the suggested articles and announced new prizes for contestants to motivate fruitful contributions from participants. I hope to see you on board soon!

Nobel for Wikimedia
editHi @Tanzania, I was recently in a meeting with ComCom and we were discussing Wikipedia turning 25 and brainstorming ideas to celebrate this milestone. @Theklan had the great idea of nominating Wikipedia for a Nobel prize! I was wondering if you knew / or knew of any Swedish Wikimedians who knew - more about the process of nominating someone? We've looked through the online info and wondered if anyone from the Swedish community may want to collaborate on a nomination? मयूर Mayur (WMF) (talk) 13:01, 25 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Mayur-WMF! Replying from my staff account. I think that is an interesting idea. The deadline for nominations for the Nobel peace prize (which I suppose is the only possible prize) in 2025 was 31 January, but in theory it could be done for 2026. We need to request a member of a national assembly or a professor to nominate us, we have good connections in Sweden but I suppose WMF has such connections too. - Hello! I wonder if one nomination is enough, or there can be collective nominations (or even, campaign nominations). The people who can nominate seems to be a wide range, and I think that the WMF and local chapters will be able to have more than one if correctly coordinated. - I am not sure of the impact of having many nominations. The committee goes through all nominees, typically around 200 per year, and prepares a shortlist based on this. I suppose many nominations don't harm but I think good nomination letters are more important.
