Congratulations to 2022 Diplomacy February/Match
editHi, thank you for the kind reminder that we are starting the editathon very soon, and it feels like yesterday when I took part a year ago! Bon voyage on our trip for the culture and people of your land. Cheers, -- Omotecho (talk) 15:12, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Omotecho:, Thanks for translation! It would be a pleasure for us, if you could join the contest this year again. --ValentynNefedov (WMUA) (talk) 16:33, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
- @ValentynNefedov (WMUA):, hi, how would we know the calculation details, if we are not offered detailed explanation in our mother tongue? IMHO, ja people loves to calculate, so if unclear instruction is found, that will not encourage them take part... Is it possible to fork the translation original, and make a mini-page for calculation details? I remember we gave instruction for 2021 event, no? -- Omotecho (talk) 05:12, 15 February 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, @Omotecho:! That bit of page with example articles and calculation shows how the claim of participant should look like on this page. Unfortunately, there is no way around it, apart from making it in English. I understand your concern and I will try to come up with some compromise.--ValentynNefedov (WMUA) (talk) 08:44, 15 February 2022 (UTC)

Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy Month 2022
editHi ValentynNefedov (WMUA), I'm from the Hebrew Wikipedia. The banner of the Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy Month 2022 does not exist in the Hebrew Wikipedia. This event is translated into Hebrew, but I still can't se the banner of the event at the top of the main page...
pleas add the banner to the main page on the Hebrew Wikipedia. --Gross2killer (talk) 09:26, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
Out of curiousity.
editHello, thank you for responding on behalf of the Ukraine Diplomacy Month project, you mentioned that the banner intentions were planned and notified in advance. Just so I can get a better understanding of how things work, would you mind pointing out to me where these decisions are proposed and discussed? It would be nice to be prepared for the next banners as well.
Thanks and godspeed. --TZubiri (talk) 00:04, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, @TZubiri:! You can find more on the topic of CentralNotice banners here. Answering your question: I posted notifications about contest and banner on village pumps of projects one week prior to the actual campaign. For example, community of Russian wiki was against and banner was not set there.--ValentynNefedov (WMUA) (talk) 10:47, 8 March 2022 (UTC)

Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy Month 2022
editHello dear colleague, I created many pages but did not count the points. Will I be awarded a certificate?--Naderitat (talk) 21:13, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, @Naderitat:! Yes, you will be awarded with online certificate--ValentynNefedov (WMUA) (talk) 16:22, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
- ValentynNefedov (WMUA) Hello dear colleague, I filled in the relevant form on April 6, when will the certificate be issued? Naderitat (talk) 17:01, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
Hi Valentyn, I am a bit uncomfortable about emails with links to unknown domains outside the Wikimedia world.--Lieven Smits (talk) 11:42, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
My Respect to you and all the organizers for Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy Month 2022
editTo you and all the organizers: I would like to express my highest respect to you for continuing organizing the event during such a horrendous moment of modern history. Last year I knew very little about your country, barely scratching the surface by writing 6 articles about the Executed Renaissance. This year I personally wrote 44 articles about Ukraine on the Chinese Wikipedia, some of which are articles related to the ongoing invasion (museums and sites in Meliptopol, Kharkiv and Mariupol).
Other than participating in local anti-invasion protests, this is the only thing I could do. The invasion has made me question my faith to the modern civilization and the future to which we are heading. I feel sick to my guts about the antihuman crimes Putin's Regime is currently committing, while deeply hopeless to see people around me just live their daily lives as if nothing happened. I would love to visit Ukraine after this all ended, to see and explore the places I wrote about by myself. I initially planned to post this on the talk page of Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy Month, but posted here instead realizing it's probably too personal on a Wikipedia event page. Слава Україні. --Wikimycota~receptor 🍄 06:16, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
- Love and respect from Manipur too. 😍😍 --Haoreima (talk) 06:17, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, @靖天子 and Haoreima:! It is really moving for me to hear such kind words of support from people living so far away yet sharing the same values and fighting against the same evil. Speaking not as employer of Wikimedia Ukraine but rather as wikimedian, I would say that I am proud to be part of such wonderful project that can bring up issues that hold this urgent status. Hope to meet you in person one day. Thanks a lot. ValentynNefedov (WMUA) (talk) 20:33, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
UCDM '23
editFirst of all: all my appreciation to You, the organizers and the Ukrainian people. It just shows the strength of humanity, that a people of a country of 40 million can still be heard and can and will fight against the largest country on Earth. And, they still have time to organize a contest on Wikipedia! It's sad that in today's world, with the UN, Nato and EU, some people still choose to fight, even knowing the consequences.
Second of all: if I understand well, if a newly created article is less than 3500 bytes, then it is not eligible for the contest, so it cannot get any points. Is that true?
Thank you, have a wonderful day, and Слава Україні! - Molnár Gábor Dávid (talk) 07:01, 11 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Molnár Gábor Dávid! Thanks you for such kind words! Answering your question, yes, articles should be more than 3500 bytes to be eligible for the contest. I checked your contribution so far and it's all good for you now. Героям слава! ValentynNefedov (WMUA) (talk) 09:37, 13 March 2023 (UTC)
Question about certificates for UCDM
editHello Valentyn Nefedov! Thank you so much for organizing the event. I hope that you are safe and well. I received the link to the form, and I have a question. The first and last name are used only for the certificates, correct? The reason I ask is because of privacy concerns. Having my real name on the certificate is nice, but I'm not sure if I want people to know that I use this account. FunnyMath (talk) 22:22, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hi! Yes, your name is solely used for certificate. We will not publish it anywhere. ValentynNefedov (WMUA) (talk) 07:58, 26 April 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you! By the way, I should've discussed this on Talk:Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy Month 2023. You can move it to the other page if you'd like, so other people can see. FunnyMath (talk) 23:31, 26 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, Valentyn. Hope you're doing well. I'm going to jump in to ask if there are any updates on the certificates and other stuff. Just to be sure I'm not missing it. Last time, I missed on those sweet Bhutanese stamps because of the Azerbaijani postal system, I don't want the same to happen here :D --► Sincerely: SolaVirum 21:19, 12 June 2023 (UTC)
- Hi! @Solavirum! Sorry about delay. Please check your e-mail, I have sent you certificate and additional info on prizes shipment. ValentynNefedov (WMUA) (talk) 13:57, 14 June 2023 (UTC)

- @Inokosni organ Hello! I have made template for you {{User UCDM 2024}} ValentynNefedov (WMUA) (talk) 09:43, 6 March 2024 (UTC)

About Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy
editHello, I have a question for you. By what consensus is this event banner displayed for other language wikis (especially fa wiki)? Pereoptic Talk✉️ 08:50, 15 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @Pereoptic! The notification that banner would be shown in fawiki was done here. Since there was no opposition for more than a week, it was launched. ValentynNefedov (WMUA) (talk) 10:25, 15 March 2024 (UTC)
Invitation to participate in the WQT UI requirements elicitation online workshop
editDear Valentyn Nefedov,
I hope you are doing well,
We are a group of researchers from King’s College London working on developing WQT (Wikidata Quality Toolkit), which will support a diverse set of editors in curating and validating Wikidata content.
We are inviting you to participate in an online workshop aimed at understanding the requirements for designing effective and easy-to-use user interfaces (UI) for three tools within WQT that can support the daily activities of Wikidata editors: recommending items to edit based on their personal preferences, finding items that need better references, and generating entity schemas automatically for better item quality.
The main activity during this workshop will be UI mockup sketching. To facilitate this, we encourage you to attend the workshop using a tablet or laptop with PowerPoint installed or any other drawing tools you prefer. This will allow for a more interactive and productive session as we delve into the UI mockup sketching activities.
Participation is completely voluntary. You should only take part if you want to and choosing not to take part will not disadvantage you in any way. However, your cooperation will be valuable for the WQT design. Please note that all data and responses collected during the workshop will be used solely for the purpose of improving the WQT and understanding editor requirements. We will analyze the results in an anonymized form, ensuring your privacy is protected. Personal information will be kept confidential and will be deleted once it has served its purpose in this research.
The online workshop, which will be held on April 5th, should take no more than 3 hours.
If you agree to participate in this workshop, please either contact me at kholoud.alghamdi@kcl.ac.uk or use this form to register your interest https://forms.office.com/e/9mrE8rXZVg Then, I will contact you with all the instructions for the workshop.
For more information about my project, please read this page: https://king-s-knowledge-graph-lab.github.io/WikidataQualityToolkit/
If you have further questions or require more information, don't hesitate to contact me at the email address mentioned above.
Thank you for considering taking part in this project.

More pages to edit, please?
editI am just a small editor, not big, not famous. I'm fairly new too. This was my first cultural diplomacy project. I did this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lesya_Ukrainka_Museum and I'm nearly finished with this page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Oona_Wikiwalker/TWA/Earth/3. I want to keep translating Ukrainian pages into English Wikipedia. When there are no more pages left in the cultural diplomacy project, may I ask you for more? Oona Wikiwalker (talk) 07:33, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @Oona Wikiwalker! Thanks very much for participation. You can check lists of suggested articles for more pages to translate. However, I would also encourage developing already existing articles on Ukrainian culture as many of them unfortunately are of bad quality. ValentynNefedov (WMUA) (talk) 08:54, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
- What is the best way to find existing articles on Ukrainian culture in the English Wikipedia that need improvement? Oona Wikiwalker (talk) 15:55, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Oona Wikiwalker many articles in those lists need improvement, so I'll recommend strating from them. ValentynNefedov (WMUA) (talk) 08:33, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
