Translations
editHi!^^ This is Nephiliskos from german Wikipedia, from the compilation "Ägyptologie" (egyptology). I often played with thoughts to translate articles I brought with the help of co-workers to an "worth-to-read"-award or an "excellent"-award. Why not! ;-) So, if you wanna get me to do that, just contact me (or one of yur colleagues)! Best regards;--Nephiliskos 13:33, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
- Good, do you speak French ? For translations to english go to the english wikiproject. I am french and I work only on the french wikipedia. Tpt 05:59, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
- Um, nope. Sorry. French was ever one of the less languages I were not able to master. --Nephiliskos 22:21, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
Hi. Two things:
- Distribution list/Global message delivery/Wikisource was a bit screwed up, so I fixed it.
- You added a space before "# KEY" at Global message delivery/Spam, which confused the bot. I fixed the bot's code to longer care about the space, but this was the reason it took so long to deliver the message. Usually the bot runs a delivery every five minutes.
I hope you enjoyed using the bot. :-) --MZMcBride 21:55, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot for this tool ! It's very useful ! 93.0.84.146 06:41, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
As I proposed to you in IRC last week, and I briefly discussed with Phe, I believe that there is a community benefit in getting access for you to the WS edit interfaces, so I have proposed this formally here at Meta. — billinghurst sDrewth 04:05, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

Fundraising translation feedback
editHey Tpt,
I wanted to ask for your help. As you may be aware we have been running banners on many language wikis. We have a lot of new content this year and I really want to conduct a thorough review of our translations. This is a combination of feedback from the community, readers, donors as well as those with professional translator experience. This will help us ensure the highest quality of translations used in our messaging.
To help us out with this I wonder if you would be willing to give us feedback in french using This Link
Simply follow the simple instructions on that page and if you have any questions feel free to contact me on my talk page.
Many Thanks
New option on interproject links
editHi, thanks for participating in the RFC for interproject links. There is a new option that might be interesting to explore. Please check Dropdown next to title 1 and Dropdown next to title 2. They are part of Option 5.--Micru (talk) 14:35, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
Wikisource User Group
editHi! Thanks for your interest in the Wikisource User Group, to get things moving, Aubrey and me we were thinking of doing these tasks and hopefully you can give us a hand too :)
- Translate this WsUG invitation (thanks to Aarti for writing it!) into the to the languages you know
- The invitation is meant to be delivered to this list of wikisourcerors, check if we should add someone else!
- Read the new version of the WsUG page, and, if you feel like, add your thoughts about what should we do as a group on the talk page.
What do you think it's the first priority as an international group of wikisource users, and what would you like to see accomplished? We'd very much like to understand what wikisourcerors want :-) --Micru (talk) 14:31, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
Wikisource User Group
editHi Tpt. You receive this message because you signed the Wikisource User Group page: the User Group, as you probably know, is being evaluated by the AffCom, and they asked some questions that involve all interested users (as you are :-). Could you please take a moment to read these questions and answers for yourself? It is very important. Moreover, make sure you read and review the Wikisource community poll: we would like it to be filled in by as many users as possible, and we need really your help for that. If you want and can translate it, please write it here. Please contact us if you want to help: Wikisource is an amazing project, and it can be much more amazing if we all work together :-) Thanks! --Aubrey (talk) 08:55, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
Help test better mass message delivery
editHi. You're being contacted as you've previously used global message delivery (or its English Wikipedia counterpart). It doesn't feel so great to be spammed, does it? ;-)
For the past few months, Legoktm has built a replacement to the current message delivery system called MassMessage. MassMessage uses a proper user interface form (no more editing a /Spam subpage), works faster (it can complete a large delivery in minutes), and no longer requires being on an access list (any local administrator can use it). In addition, many tiny annoyances with the old system have been addressed. It's a real improvement! :-)
You can test out MassMessage here: testwiki:Special:MassMessage. The biggest difference you'll likely notice is that any input list must use a new {{#target:}}
parser function. For example, {{#target:User talk:Jimbo Wales}}
or {{#target:User talk:Jimbo Wales|test2.wikipedia.org}}
. For detailed instructions, check out mw:Help:Extension:MassMessage.
If you find any bugs, have suggestions for additional features, or have any other feedback, drop a note at m:Talk:MassMessage. Thanks for spamming! --MZMcBride (talk) 05:27, 1 October 2013 (UTC)
Beginning of MassMessage, end of EdwardsBot
editHi. You're being contacted as you're listed as an EdwardsBot user.
MassMessage has been deployed to all Wikimedia wikis. For help using the new tool, please check out its help page or drop a note on Meta-Wiki.
With over 400,000 edits to Wikimedia wikis, EdwardsBot has served us well; however EdwardsBot will no longer perform local or global message delivery after December 31, 2013.
A huge thanks to Legoktm, Reedy, Aaron Schulz and everyone else who helped to get MassMessage deployed. --MZMcBride (talk) 02:36, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

Letter petitioning WMF to reverse recent decitions
editThe Wikimedia Foundation recently created a new feature, "superprotect" status. The purpose is to prevent pages from being edited by elected administrators -- but permitting WMF staff to edit them. It has been put to use in only one case: to protect the deployment of the Media Viewer software on German Wikipedia, in defiance of a clear decision of that community to disable the feature by default, unless users decide to enable it.
If you oppose these actions, please add your name to this letter. If you know non-Wikimedians who support our vision for the free sharing of knowledge, and would like to add their names to the list, please ask them to sign an identical version of the letter on change.org.
I'm notifying you because you participated in one of several relevant discussions. -Pete F (talk) 22:23, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
Superprotect status
editDear Tpt, since you are an administrator on a wiki from which no user participated in this discussion, I'd like to make sure you are aware of some recent events which may alter what the Wikimedia Foundation lets you do on your wiki: Superprotect.
- Request for comment: Requests for comment/Superprotect rights
- An open letter about its implementation: Letter to Wikimedia Foundation: Superprotect and Media Viewer

ProofreadPage extension bug
editHi there! Please take a look at the newly submitted bugreport on the ProofreadPage extension. It's important for the Russian Wikisource and, probably, for French WS as well. Hinote (talk) 15:32, 23 January 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for your participation in IdeaLab during the Inspire Campaign focused on improving content curation & review processes from February to March 2016. Immediate results of the campaign can be found here. Please feel free to review them and let me know if you have any questions about the campaign or the survey. Thanks! I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 02:32, 26 May 2016 (UTC)
Timeless Newsletter • Issue 1
editWelcome to the first issue of the Timeless newsletter! This issue is being sent or forwarded to everyone who has at some point expressed an interest in the project, give or take, as well as a couple of other potentially relevant pages, so if you would like to continue (or start) receiving this newsletter directly, please sign up for further updates on the meta page.
The news:
The Timeless grant has been selected for funding, and the project is now underway!
While I've had a somewhat slow start working on the project for health reasons, I'm pleased to announce that everything described in the proposal is now either happening, or on its way to happening.
Current progress:
- The project now has a hub on Meta to serve as a directory for the various related pages, workboards, and local discussions and help pages. It's probably incomplete, especially with regards to specific language projects that might have local pages for Timeless, so if you know of others, please add them!
- Outreach: I've been talking to various people and groups directly about skinning, desktop/mobile interfaces, project management, specific component support, and other things, and have begun to compile a very shoddy list of skinning problems and random issues on mw.org based on this. Some of this may inform the direction of this project, or possibly this project will result in building a more proper list that can then be used for other things. We shall see.
- Some development - task triage, code review, bug fixing, and various rabbit holes involving ...overflows.
General plan for the future:
- Triage the rest of the workboard.
- Catch up with all the talkpages and other bug reports that have been left various other places that are not the project workboard
- Do all the bug fixes/features/other things!
- Some proposals aimed at Commons and Wikisource in particular (maybe, we'll see)
Essentially, the grant as written shall be carried out. This was the plan, and remains the plan. Timelines remain fuzzy, but while there have been some initial delays, I don't particularly expect the timeline for project as a whole to change a whole lot.
Also, for anyone at Wikimania right now: I am also at Wikimania. Come talk to me in person!
Thank you all for your interest and support thus far!

The Community Wishlist Survey
editHi,
You get this message because you’ve previously participated in the Community Wishlist Survey. I just wanted to let you know that this year’s survey is now open for proposals. You can suggest technical changes until 11 November: Community Wishlist Survey 2019.
You can vote from November 16 to November 30. To keep the number of messages at a reasonable level, I won’t send out a separate reminder to you about that. /Johan (WMF) 11:24, 30 October 2018 (UTC)

editThe TWUG on space.wmflabs.org
editHello Tpt
A few months ago, WMF opened a new discussion space. Since our user group has some difficulties to communicate (not everyone sees the messages that are posted on Talk:Wiktionary/Tremendous_Wiktionary_User_Group), I asked for a dedicated forum for the TWUG to be opened. It's happening here (there is no topic so far).
From now on, I invite you to follow the category to be informed as soon as a new topic is created. Pamputt (talk) 18:50, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
Community Wishlist Survey 2020
editHello!
You are getting this message because you've previously participated in the Community Wishlist Survey, in either the Wikisource or Wiktionary categories. I wanted to let you know that this year's survey is now open for proposals. You can suggest technical changes until November 11. Unlike previous years, we are only accepting proposals for non-Wikipedia content projects with no dedicated teams (i.e., Wikibooks, Wiktionary, Wikiquote, Wikisource, Wikiversity, Wikispecies, Wikivoyage, and Wikinews). You can learn more on the survey page.
You can vote on proposals from November 20 to December 2. To keep the number of messages at a reasonable level, I won't send out a separate reminder to you about that. We look forward to your participation. Thank you! IFried (WMF) (talk) 18:52, 22 October 2019 (UTC)
Mix'n'match and soweego: call for support
editDear @Tpt:
TL;DR:
soweego
catalogs are in Mix'n'match.- Why don't you show your support with a star?
First, thank you for being a Mix'n'match [1] user.
Does the name soweego
ring you a bell?
It's a machine learning system that links Wikidata to large catalogs [2].
It's a close friend of Mix'n'match, which mainly caters for small catalogs.
The latest catalogs uploaded by soweego need some love: why don't you check them out?
If you are a music enthusiast, Discogs and MusicBrainz are what you need: musicians [3], [4], bands [5], [6], and records [7], [8].
Are you passionate about cinema? IMDb is there with actors [9], directors [10], musicians [11], producers [12], writers [13], and movies [14].
I would be really grateful if you could support soweego with a GitHub star:
https://github.com/Wikidata/soweego

Thadguidry (talk) 15:50, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Thadguidry: Thank you! It's seems to be a problem with query service. I tried to run the test tool multiple time, sometime it fails, sometime it does not. It's maybe related to the server load, or a problem with the Blazegraph optimizer we hit because the schema.org mapping is very large. I'm going to investigate it. Tpt (talk) 17:35, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Tpt: You are welcome! I agree, this is quite likely a query load issue. It's probably stems from the fact that over the last 3 weeks (as I am helping Lydia with the extra mapping for their References task she asked of me), I have been doing much more detailed Property mapping, and estimate I have probably doubled the number of facts for Schema.org inside Wikidata. I guess you can probably see that from my user activity to get a hint of how much. Thadguidry (talk) 19:00, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Tpt: Results seen here: https://query.wikidata.org/embed.html#SELECT%20%3Fwd%20%3FwdLabel%20%3FcorrName%20%3Fschema%0A%7B%0A%20%20values%20%28%3Fcorr%20%3FcorrName%29%20%0A%20%20%20%20%7B%28wdt%3AP2235%20%22superProp%22%29%20%28wdt%3AP2236%20%22subProp%22%29%20%28wdt%3AP1628%20%22equivProp%22%29%20%28wdt%3AP1709%20%22equivClass%22%29%20%28wdt%3AP2888%20%22exactMatch%22%29%7D%0A%20%20%3Fwd%20%3Fcorr%20%3Fschema%0A%20%20filter%28regex%28str%28%3Fschema%29%2C%20%22schema.org%22%29%29%0A%20%20SERVICE%20wikibase%3Alabel%20%7B%20bd%3AserviceParam%20wikibase%3Alanguage%20%22en%22.%20%7D%0A%7D%20order%20by%20%3FcorrName%20%3Fschema Thadguidry (talk) 19:00, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Thadguidry: It's great that you help Lydia with this project. Thank you! The timeout happens because w:User:ProteinBoxBot imported a lot of "exact match" statements, making the filter to find the ones related to schema.org very slow. I have changed the way "exact match" validation is done to only consider URIs that are defined by the external vocabulary. It seems to work better now. Tpt (talk) 08:25, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
- PS: Is it voluntarily that you use sometime "https:" prefix instead of "http:" for schema.org URIs? Tpt (talk) 08:29, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
- We will be making a cleanup pass (conversion to https:) after all is done. Per Dan Brickley in his email reply to Lydia and I... 'It's complicated. We changed as much as we could to https including markup recommendations but currently all the raw schemas are http including data dumps and source files, That said I would recommend https in this case. Feel free to quote this email if it becomes an issue.' So, even though the canonical URL is http... we really want to push and encourage https as THE canonical URL. So we'll do that in Wikidata and update all the URLs in a cleanup pass. I do a few conversions as I come across them. I'm almost done with the mapping work probably by end of weekend. Thadguidry (talk) 19:47, 2 May 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for your mapping work! It will require some work on in validation tool (because of the data dumps are still using the http:// urls). Tpt (talk) 18:07, 4 May 2020 (UTC)

Wikisource Pagelist Widget - First Iteration Feedback
editHello everyone,
I am pleased to announce that Wikisource Pagelist Widget is now available on Beta Wikisource. We need your help in testing the widget and providing feedback.
You can test the widget by editing the following Index page on Beta Wikisource:
https://en.wikisource.beta.wmflabs.org/wiki/Index:War_and_Peace.djvu
There is a new ‘Preview pagelist’ button under the pagelist field. Click it to get a preview, and then click on any page number in the preview to open the widget.
You can also create a fresh Index Page for any other PDF or DjVu from Wikimedia Commons and test it.
We need your feedback on the following questions:
- What is your general opinion about the Pagelist Widget?
- Is it obvious how to use the widget? If not, what is difficult to understand?
- What other changes would you like to suggest in order to improve the widget further?
Please provide your feedback on the Project Talk Page on Meta-Wiki.
P.S. - The widget doesn’t work on Local Uploads in Beta Wikisource as of now (due to phab:T257807).
Regards

The 2021 Community Wishlist Survey is now open! This survey is the process where communities decide what the Community Tech team should work on over the next year. We encourage everyone to submit proposals until the deadline on 30 November, or comment on other proposals to help make them better. The communities will vote on the proposals between 8 December and 21 December.
The Community Tech team is focused on tools for experienced Wikimedia editors. You can write proposals in any language, and we will translate them for you. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing your proposals!
18:26, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
We invite all registered users to vote on the 2021 Community Wishlist Survey. You can vote from now until 21 December for as many different wishes as you want.
In the Survey, wishes for new and improved tools for experienced editors are collected. After the voting, we will do our best to grant your wishes. We will start with the most popular ones.
We, the Community Tech, are one of the Wikimedia Foundation teams. We create and improve editing and wiki moderation tools. What we work on is decided based on results of the Community Wishlist Survey. Once a year, you can submit wishes. After two weeks, you can vote on the ones that you're most interested in. Next, we choose wishes from the survey to work on. Some of the wishes may be granted by volunteer developers or other teams.
We are waiting for your votes. Thank you!
