Learning points

edit

Below are some of the key things I gained through attending Wikiindaba 2021 and through participating as a volunteer for the Wikiindaba 2021 Programs team.

  1. I learnt how to organize different submitted sessions and arrangement of those sessions in a form of Birds of a feather flock together, a form that made easy similar programs/topics to be grouped together to easy the discussions and help Wikimedians of the similar interests to network easily.
  2. I learnt new skills from my wonderful team members on how to organize the programs on meta
  3. I learnt how myself and my fellow community members can organize Wikiindaba event in Tanzania
  4. I learnt how scholarship was effective to ensure online participation of Wikimedians on this conference

Outcome

edit
  1. Work with my other fellow Wikimedians on establishment of East Africa Regional and Thematic Hub (EARTH).
  2. Work on Establishment of Wiki For Universities (Wiki4Uni) project to help Wiki communities in SADC countries learn to contribute to swwiki and other WMF projects.
  3. Continue to support communities that seeks to add effort on the documentation of African Heritatge Sites on Wikipedia and other WMF projects such as Wikidata
  4. I will use the experince gained during Wikiindaba 2021 to organize similar events back in my community, example Wikiindaba 2021 in Tanzania in future.
  5. Use the learning from the presentations and insights discussed during Wikiindaba to build a sustainable community in Tanzania, East Africa and globally.
  6. Looking forward to implement WikiFor Refugees in Tanzania after having some experience from Geoffrey Kateregga on about this similar project in Uganda
  7. I will continue to network with other Wikimedians to explore more common areas of interest towards promoting open knowledge.
