Wiki Loves Sport 2024
Welcome to the Wikimedia contest Wiki Loves Sport 2024
the sixth edition of the Wikimedia campaign to write or improve sport-related articles
17 July - 22 September
What?
editWiki Loves Sport is a campaign ideated and organized by WikiDonne User Group since 2019 as part of WikiDonne Roadmap selected as one of the 27 individual or affiliate's projects granted by WMF in 2018.
The sixth edition of Wiki Loves Sport is organized to improve and extend content related to diversity in sport in the Wikimedia projects in general, and for the events it covers in particular. Given the gaps which is our topic of interest, the campaign is mainly focused on content concerning missing or underrepresented groups, but as Wikimedians, we appreciate any sports-related content you want to add. Wikimedians in any language of the Wikimedia projects are invited to participate.
Rules
edit- To participate, you must be a registered user on one of the Wikimedia platforms. Please follow these steps;
- To be considered valid, the articles created must contain at least 3,000 bytes and be created or improved between July 17 and September 22, 2024. If the article exists in another language, you can also choose to translate it (see how to translate a Wikipedia article);
- All the articles should meet the content criteria for Wikipedia: notability, reliable sources, respect for copyright. More details on the dedicated page.
Seeing the affiliate's goal of increasing the diversity, whoever writes +5 articles about female athletes or female & male para-athletes, will also receive a barnstar and a digital certificate from the main organizer.

Why?
editWikimedia and Wikipedia have deep content gaps based on gender, linguistic and ethnic minorities etc. The contest was ideated in 2019 and it is organized by WikiDonne User Group: our goal is to improve the free knowledge about sport (with a special focus on women, LGBT+ communities, para athletics, minorities and underrepresented groups), in all languages. For organizations or institutions that want to collaborate during this contest, please contact us on the discussion page or send an email to camelia.bobangmail.com.
