This page provides general information and guidelines on the process of submitting session proposals --with or without full or partial scholarship grant.

  • Call for proposals opens: 1 August 2024
  • Call for proposals closes: 6 October 2024
  • Review of submissions: 7 October onwards

Submission types

Consider submitting a proposal for any of the following session types:

Type Description Suggested length
Lecture One or two presenters offer(s) a presentation followed by questions and comments from the audience 35 minutes
Demonstration One presenter introduces the methods of working with a tool, a workflow or a program 45 minutes
Panel Facilitated discussion among three or more on a pre-selected topic 45 minutes
Workshop Facilitated group-wide tutorial and/or working session on a pre-selected topic 75 minutes
Lightning talk Brief presentation lasting only a few minutes 5 minutes
Birds of a feather Informal gathering based on topic 45 minutes
Other Topic may be presented on a poster or otherwise presented based on content 25 minutes

Topics

  • Share and explain methods in which a Wikimedia project reinforces reliable information exchange and/or specifically addresses combatting disinformation.
  • Identify strategic priorities for the Wikimedia+Libraries communities that not only promote knowledge equity, diversity and inclusion, but also ensure librarians and information professionals challenge the proliferation of disinformation.
  • Exchange and build capacity around Wikimedia+Libraries tools, outreach and collaborations by sharing best practices for authentic information communication.
  • Reflect, discuss and think of new roadmaps for our existing tools and platforms, particularly following the conference theme of disinformation as a threat.
  • Reconnect after Maynooth 2022, network and discuss the evolution of Wikimedia+Libraries.
