Hola usía, llamado Legobot o Legoktm o como fuere que sea tu nombre. Me he cruzado, tiempo hace ya y en repetidas ocasiones, con alteraciones y modificaciones en los artículos enciclopédicos de wikipedia en español donde desaparecen los enlaces interlingüísticos por algún tipo de traslado de esa información a algo nuevo llamado wikipedia, pero al realizar esta automática acción robótica se incluyen erratas provenientes de versiones anteriores del artículo, por lo que toca revertir la edición automática de tu programa de edición de wikipedia (y alguien/otro robot deberá volver a hacerla, esperemos todos que la próxima vez lo haga bien). Modifications to be made on the LT page of the European Ombudsman

Hello,

I would like to suggest following changes to the LT version of the European Ombudsman page, which was last modified by you March 2013:

- The name of the European Ombudsman has to be corrected- P. Nikiforos Diamandouros.

- I think it would be useful to add that the institution was created with the Maastricht treaty.

- Info that new ombudsman has been elected - Emily O'Reilly (new EU Ombudsman as of 1 October, add also the election date 3 July 2013), Ireland.

(FYI: This IP is from the European Parliament.) The article is Europos Ombudsmenas. Your bot edited it in March 2013. I actually happen to speak Lithuanian a bit so I may be help you (User:Vogone speaks it at an advanced level), if you can't figure out what to change or need help with grammatical cases, but I think that's not needed in this case.

To the writer from the EP: Thank you for reporting this. If you know any English-Lithuanian translators, they may be able to help with the text. If not, ask me, User:Vogone, or a native LT speaker like User:Hugo.arg or User talk:Martynas Barzda. Legoktm does not speak LT. He just operates a bot (program) that deals with linking translations of articles together.

More to the writer from EP: the name "P. Nikiforos Diamandouros" is already in the text after the LT rendering of the name. (In Lithuanian, names are often translated/transliterated to use LT grammar.)

Recommend you contact a native LT speaker. If none are available, ask me.

Help test better mass message delivery

Hi. You're being contacted as you've previously used global message delivery (or its English Wikipedia counterpart). It doesn't feel so great to be spammed, does it? ;-)

For the past few months, Legoktm has built a replacement to the current message delivery system called MassMessage. MassMessage uses a proper user interface form (no more editing a /Spam subpage), works faster (it can complete a large delivery in minutes), and no longer requires being on an access list (any local administrator can use it). In addition, many tiny annoyances with the old system have been addressed. It's a real improvement! :-)

You can test out MassMessage here: testwiki:Special:MassMessage. The biggest difference you'll likely notice is that any input list must use a new {{#target:}} parser function. For example, {{#target:User talk:Jimbo Wales}} or {{#target:User talk:Jimbo Wales|test2.wikipedia.org}}. For detailed instructions, check out mw:Help:Extension:MassMessage.

I'm not sure whether it makes sense to use a different icon for a flagged revs patrol versus a "normal new pages patrol", but I don't have an opinion either way really. Can your random-user-contacting bot be used to generate a representative unban discussion

Hi Legotkm, excuse me for just dropping in but I noticed your Legobot somewhere on English Wikipedia and it seemed to be contacting random users. I wondered if it could be used to invite a set of, say, 30 users to an unban discussion. This would have the advantageous effect of generating a discussion that could be scientifically said to be representative of "the community." My position is that the current place such discussions occur, which is mainly WP:AN/ANI, is heavily populated by blocking enthusiasts, and thus not particularly representative of the community.

If it worked for this purpose, I think there are myriad other Wikipedia processes, say Arbcom elections and so forth, where Legobot could similarly be used to get a more representative result,

I have a selfish purpose for this. I am banned for socking. I never did it, there's never been evidence. I did respond poorly when WP:AN/ANI regulars started pushing me around at my page, and before I knew it I'm kicked out, and talkpage blocked. I try to get unbanned but the problem is a few of the same people hound me and pounce on every word I say, and then WP:AN/ANI groupthink sets in. The WP:UNBAN policy says I can be unbanned as result of a community discussion, but my dilemma is how to have that in another place than WP:AN/ANI. This is where your bot could come in. Set up a location, and randomly invite editors to unban me or not. This could be done as a pilot effort. If it worked out, I think there're a lot more unjustly banned editors that could make use of it. Thanks, and let me know if you'll consider this. Got it, it's a02e59464a7a0970da28f0bbe29fd01f, the OAuthListConsumers search form is apparently case sensitive. "Something" happened today after a click on login, I got an OAuth permission form, and doing that, I could pick en-GB as global language. A quick sanity test on w:zh: did not confirm any immediate effect, but maybe that's as expected without browser restart. One global preference I'd really love in addition to the UI language would be the MediaViewer opt-out. –Be..anyone (talk) 13:19, 20 March 2015 (UTC)

How long did you wait? IIRC the tool is pretty slow and goes in alphabetical order, so check your language preference on aawiki or something. It was mainly a prototype to prove it was feasible, not really intended for proper usage. Legoktm (talk) 14:36, 20 March 2015 (UTC)

Running a sql query across all wikis

I have a little C# script for crosswiki queries — just enter your SQL and choose how to output the results, and it'll connect to the Tool Labs databases through an SSH tunnel. Cross-wiki notifications

So it turns out that it's currently only on a few wikis right now, the list is at mw:Help:Notifications/Cross-wiki#Release_timeline. It should hit all other wikis by the end of March (exact date still unknown), we want to make sure we quash most of the bugs before it goes out everywhere, and that the backend infrastructure scales properly. Hey Legoktm. Hope you are doing better dude. I saw your recent edit and started wondering if there was more context here - specifically, this page. It is definitely useful, compiled from public information but it is missing a lot. I wanted to ask 2 things - First, was there any discussion anywhere (lists etc.) that I missed? Second, I think this should have a more complete set of numbers, and since this is from public reports? maybe there is somewhere to search and compile this further? Thanks. Hey Theo! No public discussion as far as I know, there have been multiple discussions about it on the private wmfall mailing list though. The table was originally created on officewiki, and then I moved it to meta ~2 weeks ago since all of the data was public. What data do you think is missing? 2FA, how does it work xwiki

For each wiki where I am an administrator I am seeing different 2 factor secret key, and scratch codes, and all for the one account. toollabs:checker not correctly checking transclusion

Hi. For the past little while I have seen that the checker tool fails on some works in that it reports pages as being transcluded, though they are definitely not.

Welcome to the first issue of the Timeless newsletter! This issue is being sent or forwarded to everyone who has at some point expressed an interest in the project, give or take, as well as a couple of other potentially relevant pages, so if you would like to continue (or start) receiving this newsletter directly, please sign up for further updates on the meta page.

The news:

The Timeless grant has been selected for funding, and the project is now underway!

While I've had a somewhat slow start working on the project for health reasons, I'm pleased to announce that everything described in the proposal is now either happening, or on its way to happening.

Current progress:

• The project now has a hub on Meta to serve as a directory for the various related pages, workboards, and local discussions and help pages. It's probably incomplete, especially with regards to specific language projects that might have local pages for Timeless, so if you know of others, please add them!
• Outreach: I've been talking to various people and groups directly about skinning, desktop/mobile interfaces, project management, specific component support, and other things, and have begun to compile a very shoddy list of skinning problems and random issues on mw.org based on this. Some of this may inform the direction of this project, or possibly this project will result in building a more proper list that can then be used for other things. We shall see.
• Some development - task triage, code review, bug fixing, and various rabbit holes involving ...overflows.

General plan for the future:

• Triage the rest of the workboard.
• Catch up with all the talkpages and other bug reports that have been left various other places that are not the project workboard
• Do all the bug fixes/features/other things!
• Some proposals aimed at Commons and Wikisource in particular (maybe, we'll see)

Essentially, the grant as written shall be carried out. This was the plan, and remains the plan. Timelines remain fuzzy, but while there have been some initial delays, I don't particularly expect the timeline for project as a whole to change a whole lot.

Also, for anyone at Wikimania right now: I am also at Wikimania. Come talk to me in person!

Welcome to the third issue of the Timeless newsletter, complete with a somewhat dubious explanation of where I've been all this time.

Somewhat dubious explanation of where I've been all this time:

I suffered a rather bad concussion in October, which knocked me pretty much completely out of commission through November, and I'm still recovering even now. One person = bus factor of one, even though it wasn't actually a bus but a very short flight of stairs.

Updates:

• Random bugs have been fixed. More bugs have been found. For a full list of horrors, see the workboard.
• Implementing themes (T131991: the dark/night mode and winter variants of the skin) has proven far more complicated than initially thought, lacking either the extension, or preferably, some core support for this functionality. Thus:
  • I have submitted a Request for Comment proposing to merge Extension:Theme into core - this will enable skins to specify style variants as distinct options for users to select in their preferences by letting the skin specify the styles separately for each, a much neater way of implementing this than some of the existing hacks.
  • Jack Phoenix has already submitted a patch to do this. We simply need the buy-in and consensus to merge it, and to resolve whatever issues may arise from this wider review.

Comments on the RfC (MediaWiki wiki RfC page, task) or bugs, or further reports, are always appreciated.

Welcome to the fourth issue of the Timeless newsletter, with a cat! Or maybe not.

Un chat qui miaule???

It's true! The angry cat, a fundamental part of Timeless, has resulted in confusion and bug reports all across the projects and phabricator. And now it shall be immortalised forever in the new, shiny Timeless logo.

Updates:

After putting off the project for three months because I got hit in the head with a flight of stairs, and then putting off the project for another two months while working out what the status of the grant was, I have now put off the project even more in order to focus on my other project for a bit. So progress lately has been a bit whims-based as a result:

• The project now has a logo. For some reason.
• The angry cat in the background is now customisable! Behold: not a cat. What would you like to replace it with on your project?
• I broke, unbroke, and then sort of sideways broke all the form styles. Help.

Radar:

• The French Wiktionary voted to set Timeless as their default skin, with results possibly as you might expect: I ran away and hid, and the WMF said no. A bit of discussion later and we largely agreed that all else aside, this is a bit of a branding issue, but we love the enthusiasm! Also the bug reports that inevitably come out of such a discussion. I'm still working on properly going through those.
• Theme support is still stuck in limbo, but now we have another skinning RfC. tl;dr, we wanna replace the entire skinning system, and Skizzerz'll write a prototype later.

I will be fully resuming work on Timeless next week, or maybe the week after, depending on what madness (or illness) comes out of the Hackathon in Prague. Please come talk to me there to discuss strategy!

Welcome to the fifth and final issue of the Timeless newsletter!

Progress was made. True story.

I am happy to announce that after about a year, this delightful project in which absolutely nothing has gone according to plan is coming to a close. Or at least, the grant-funded portion is. Which means we will now be resuming our regular schedule of random whims-based development, you probably won't notice any difference whatsoever unless you use MonoBook, and there's a report.

What's new from the past two months:

A lot less than we'd hoped, frankly. We:

• Fixed various bugs, some of which even weren't for stuff I'd just broken two patches previously.
• Resolved sundry compatibility issues for other extensions, templates onwiki, whatever, largely by removing dumb crap from the css.
• Implemented some shiny new features you'll probably hate or just never use or actually see, like click-toggled dropdowns, icons everywhere, and options to select a default layout or set an image for the site header wordmark.
• Brought the total number of open tasks on the Timeless workboard down to 70.

We also wound up with:

• Patches resulting in RelatedArticles working in MonoBook, and FlaggedRevisions showing up in Minerva, unless someone actually managed to turn that off as well. (Blame T181242.) It's possible we went a little overboard with the whole 'let's close all the tasks!' sprint.
• An unfortunate repeated discovery that themes (the Night/Winter variants I keep insisting will happen at some point) are still pretty far off on the horizon. Um.
• Possibly a quite a few more bugs coming your way. This month, and especially the past week, have been a bit of a mess, development-wise. While hopefully none of the worse issues make it to production, please keep the reports coming for whatever you do find and we'll get it fixed as soon as we can. Y'all've been amazing about this, and it's really appreciated.

And I guess that's that. I'm really bad at reporting, and this is a report. For the purposes of the grant, this was a requirement, but do you want me to keep trying to send these out?

Yes. There are currently "2" bots I run in the same botaccount. One of them is the main task I do which is a cite errors repair bot using find and replace. I've set that up using the recommended instructions here, here and here. The other is a script I had to adopt for SqWiki from EnWiki following the instructions here. If I'm not wrong, that does require setting up Toolforge locally (not the recommended setup above) so basically I have both ways? :/ I'm not sure. I remember talking with the EnWiki botmaintainer about the possibility to modify his bot to work with the recommended setup, without needing venv but he wasn't able to do that. @Klein Muçi: I looked around a bit, and found the "smallem" tool on Toolforge where you are running Smallem-WP.sh, Smallem-WQ.sh, and Smallem-Transclusion. Those are all your bots, correct? In the smallem tool's ~/.bash_profile file, I see: export PYTHONPATH=/data/project/shared/pywikibot/stable:/data/project/shared/pywikibot/stable/scripts, which is the "shared" Pywikibot installation that is automatically updated every day.

So, I have written a short script myself (after a lot of trial and error and experimentation) that basically what it does is that it sends a series of put and get HTTP curl requests in a wiki page and compiles a list with all the results which are saved in a specific file. The script has 1 very specific line though regarding the getrevisionid command that basically it's just "extra", it's a duplicate, the same line twice. If I remove that line though, requests start behaving strange: 2 go through, 1 fails. This pattern repeats until the very end.

Here is the code. The comments are in Albanian but I can translate everything if needed. Line 38 is the problematic one. Normally it shouldn't be there because of the first variable above should already take care of that but...

If it helps, these are 2 tracebacks gotten when the requests go through and when they don't:

Hi Legoktm, thanks for this Rfc! I would to address my opinion to this:

• Some global AF on metawiki use MediaWiki:Abusefilter-warning to display a warning message. Normally when we design the warning message for a specific AF, it is important to include a link to a false-positive report page, and a simple description about what the user should do to avoid such trigger action. Unfortunately, the default message does not provide enough information.
• Will this cause some performance issue if the rule inside global AF is too complex? Like if the rule count reach the limitation of $wgAbuseFilterConditionLimit.
• Curious about the standard of "small" or "medium" wiki. In my opinion, at least Non-GS Wiki should be excluded as the local community is not big enough - so I felt not comfortable about "No wiki will be allowed to opt-out of global filters".

Hello, Thanks for your reply in IRC. Technically, yes we could have opt outs, but I don't think it's a good idea I worry that if the AF may cause collateral damage in the particular wiki(s) but can work properly in another wiki, Opt-out for individual AF is necessary for this/these particular wiki(s). I recommend that allow wiki can be opt-out when the AF cannot work properly in their wiki.

Moreover, I recommend creating a user group for viewing AF by local admin, so that they can easily help users whose edit is triggered and report the error to meta. And only create filters that are enabled everywhere and remain global AF(s) that are enabled in small and medium wikis, rather than set all global AF to enabling on all wikis. The filter enabled everywhere is only used for handling serious cross-wiki vandalism (e.g. botnet attack), so that minimize the collateral damage to large wikis. Welcome to the fifth issue of Movement Strategy and Governance News (formerly known as Universal Code of Conduct News)! This revamped newsletter distributes relevant news and events about the Movement Charter, Universal Code of Conduct, Movement Strategy Implementation grants, Board elections and other relevant MSG topics.

• Call for Feedback about the Board elections - We invite you to give your feedback on the upcoming WMF Board of Trustees election. This call for feedback went live on 10th January 2022 and will be concluded on 16th February 2022. (continue reading)
• Universal Code of Conduct Ratification - In 2021, the WMF asked communities about how to enforce the Universal Code of Conduct policy text. The revised draft of the enforcement guidelines should be ready for community vote in March. (continue reading)

• Leadership Development - A Working Group is Forming! - The application to join the Leadership Development Working Group closed on April 10th, 2022, and up to 12 community members will be selected to participate in the working group. (continue reading)
• Universal Code of Conduct Ratification Results are out! - The global decision process on the enforcement of the UCoC via SecurePoll was held from 7 to 21 March. Over 2,300 eligible voters from at least 128 different home projects submitted their opinions and comments. (continue reading)
• Movement Discussions on Hubs - The Global Conversation event on Regional and Thematic Hubs was held on Saturday, March 12, and was attended by 84 diverse Wikimedians from across the movement. (continue reading)

Will you please consider answering all the Board election questions in writing?

(Hi Kunal, I know you were the first to agree to do this, for which I thank you very much, but I thought it would be odd to not paste this here anyway.)

Greetings, Board of Trustees candidate! I'm asking all of you to please consider voluntarily answering all of the community-submitted Wikimedia Foundation elections/2022/Community Voting/Questions for Candidates, instead of just the six top voted that the Elections Committee is asking you to answer on video.

Regarding the remaining Election Compass statements, that seems reasonable. Once the 15 most endorsed are selected, could you or someone else interested in seeing our responses to the remaining ones put together a wiki page where we can easily put in our responses? I'm very glad you've fixed it. I read all the responses to questions, and found that Legoktm has strong views (all of which I agree with, as it happens), and the other candidates are behaving like politicians, trying to give what they think are acceptable answers while not committing themselves to anything. So I tried to vote for Legoktm, and was disappointed to find no such name on the ballot paper. I'll vote for you now. Maproom (talk) 22:05, 27 August 2022 (UTC)

Update to commentlinks.js gadget

I am about to update my comment links gadget to link the comment's timestamp rather than add a separate [ link ] button. If you prefer the old style, that gadget will be available at commentlinks-v1.js. checker.toolforge Does Not Work With .jpg File

checker.toolforge does not show which pages are already transcluded when use with .jpg file. @JP Béland (WMCA): I sent you two invites, but I *don't* think you should create two accounts solely for different languages. Mastodon allows you to set the language of a post, and people can filter posts so they only see ones in their language. https://mastodon.social/@Gargron/108335994944738270 shows what it looks like.

I would suggest having just one account that posts in both English and French to start with using the language setting, and only split to a second account if it doesn't work out. Legoktm (talk) 17:43, 19 December 2022 (UTC)
