"Wiki Loves Earth" 2021
editFor the third time, Wikimedia Armenia participated in the “Wiki Loves Earth” 2021 international photo contest in June, 2021. Considering the COVID-19 situation in Armenia, Wikimedia Armenia requested its participants to be careful in interpersonal contacts wearing masks whenever it is necessary or required.
There are 232 natural monuments in Armenia and the lists of those monuments, sorted by the location (in this case regions) were prepared and posted on the pages of the event. To help the participants, the contest page also contained links to articles about all reserves and national parks of Armenia.
During the month of June around 6,124 photos of natural monuments included in the lists were uploaded to Wikicommons. In July the low-quality photos and those which do not have numbers or have wrong titles will be eliminated after which the remaining photos will be presented to the jury for evaluation.
A meeting with the education programs specialist of Wikimedia Foundation
editWikimedia Armenia has been organizing Wikipedia training courses for a long time.

The meeting took place on June 17, 2021 via Zoom. The meeting was attended by Wikimedia Armenia President Susanna Mkrtchyan, Wikipedia Trainings coordinator Violla Mosikyan, and almost all Wikipedia trainers.
LiAnna introduced the Wiki Edu program to the participants. She spoke about the ways and programs, websites through which the courses are organised, who are involved in these trainings. After the presentation of the slide show, the possible alternative and similar ways for organizing courses in Armenia were discussed, also touching upon the translation of the necessary pages and creation of our dashboard.
Financial-Economic Wikimonth
editIn collaboration with the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia, Wikimedia Armenia has organized the “Financial-economic Wikimonth” project. 40 people have participated in this project, most of them being newcomers. The majority of the participants were students and workers of the financial-economic field.
From May 20 to 30 a short training course was organized for the newcomers of the project during which the participants were introduced to the basics of editing on Wikipedia and the rules of participating in edit-a-thons. 6 wiki trainers were engaged in the process.
Overall, the participants edited 120 Wikipedia articles with the size of 2,134,904 bytes. 61 out of those 120 articles were created from scratch.
Photo campaign
editOn June 13, with the support of WWF Armenia a group of wikiphotographers visited the Sevan and Dilijan National Parks. Within the framework of the campaign the photographers also had the chance to visit the “Breeding Center of the Red Deer” to take pictures of the Caucasian red deer.
The purpose of the initiative was to enrich Wikicommons with pictures of natural monuments taken in the above-mentioned national parks. Due to this the participants had their contribution to the “Wiki Loves Earth” international photo contest.
After the campaign the participants uploaded their photos on Wikicommons, thus presenting their pictures to the “Wiki Loves Earth” contest. 15 wikiphotographers took part in the campaign who uploaded more than 1000 photos to Wikicommons.
Khachaturian Days on Wikipedia
editOn June 21, House-Museum of Aram Khachaturian and Wikimedia Armenia started the “Khachaturian Days on Wikipedia” initiative in Armenian Wikipedia and sister projects. The collaboration is long term and has a purpose of filling the gap of the content on Aram Khachaturian in different Wikimedia projects, also to add quality and trustworthy content and in the future translate all these in other-language Wikipedias.
The starting date of the project - June 21 - is the 80th anniversary of the premiere of Aram Khachaturian's “Masquerade” orchestra suite which was performed in the play "Lermontov" at the Vakhtangov Theater in 1941.
It is planned to implement the project throughout 2021.
