The WikiVibrance Project zielt darauf ab, internationale, regionale und nationale Jugendtage im Movement durch das Engagement junger Wikimedianer/innen und der gesamten Wikimedia-Community in Veranstaltungen zu würdigen, die zu Inhalten beitragen, die sich auf die spezifischen Themen der jährlichen Feiern zu den Wikimedia-Projekten beziehen.

Überblick

Heute gibt es über 1,8 Milliarden junge Menschen auf der Welt. Diese Menschen haben einen großen Eindruck hinterlassen, denn sie haben die höchste Engagementrate in der Geschichte der Weltjugend erreicht. Das zeigt sich darin, wie stark sie sich an der Lösung globaler Probleme beteiligen. Damit haben sie bewiesen, dass sie in der Lage sind, Änderungen herbeizuführen und somit eine wertvolle Investition für die Gegenwart und die Zukunft darstellen.

Die Fähigkeit junger Menschen, Änderungen herbeizuführen, wird auf regionaler und internationaler Ebene an bestimmten Tagen anerkannt. Der Internationale Jugendtag (IJT) ist ein solches Beispiel. Der IJT bietet die Gelegenheit, auf die Stimmen, Aktionen, Initiativen und das sinnvolle Engagement junger Menschen aufmerksam zu machen. Solche Veranstaltungen für Jugendliche werden im Wikimedia Movement nicht anerkannt, obwohl sich die jungen Menschen für die Förderung von offenem Wissen einsetzen. Hier setzt das Projekt WikiVibrance an.

Wir werden uns an diesen Tagen mit anderen jungen Menschen weltweit zusammenschließen, um zu zeigen, dass wir in der Lage sind, unser Wissen im digitalen Raum zu erweitern, indem wir gemeinsam an der Überbrückung von inhaltlichen Lücken zu bestimmten Themen der Wikimediaprojekte arbeiten. Das Projekt wird die bestehenden Wikimedia-Communities nutzen, um Synergien zu schaffen, Wissen auszutauschen und Kapazitäten aufzubauen, um die kontinuierlichen kollektiven Bemühungen der jungen Wikimedianer/innen zur Förderung von offenem Wissen zu verstärken. Wir werden uns auf die Entwicklung von Community-Aktivitäten konzentrieren, die ein sinnvolles und gleichberechtigtes Engagement junger Menschen gewährleisten, um das Gefühl der Eigenverantwortung und Verbundenheit junger Menschen im Wikimedia Movement zu stärken.

Das Projekt WikiVibrance wurde im August 2021 von Euphemia Uwandu ins Leben gerufen und hat den Internationalen Jugendtag 2021, den Afrikanischen Jugendmonat 2021 und den Europäischen Jugendtag 2022 in das Movement aufgenommen.
